I let out a furious yell as Steph dangled from my leg. I lifted my other one up and out of the portal that she had created, spinning around abruptly and folding in my wings.

I dropped down and kicked Steph with the foot she held onto and we fell down through the portal beneath her. I tumbled away and tore my leg from her hands and twisted around and up to my feet, dragging my hands from the pavement of the airport and raising them into fists. Light glowed around them as I watched as she got to her own feet, mirroring my actions.

I flicked my finger and shot light into her eye. She let out a cry and shut her eyes before opening her hands, a portal open beneath me. I fell through and stumbled out before being punched back in.

The void of the portal chilled me to my bones as I emerged once again, catching onto Steph's fist and yanking her forward, kneeing her in her gut. I put my foot on her chest and shot light from my feet, flipping backwards and catching myself with my hands. I steadied myself as I looked up, seeing Steph fall backwards with a slightly dazed expression.

Steph caught herself weakly, shaking her head back and forth to get rid of her dizziness. Her eyes met mine as tears started to pool in them. I scoffed at her feigned expression of sadness as I launched at her, kicking her back and towards the ground. I raised a hand, light glowing from it as I punched downward, hitting my hand against her chest.

She let out a cry followed by a fit of coughing as I gripped onto her collar, rearing back before spinning around, tossing her away from me as both of my fists started to glow and collect light. Her body doubled over and her shirt was slightly burnt from the light, yet she stood to face me.

"Nicki, please don't make us do this," Steph pleaded another time, desperation fueling her eyes, "I can't fight you. I am fighting my sister."

"Sister? Sister you say? So a sister will forge another person's name onto legal documentation?" I spat, shaking my head as I balled my fists up. I yelled out, "No, you're lucky that I haven't beaten you to a pulp yet. I can't believe you."

I turned away from her, a furious flare in my eyes. I outstretched my wings, crouching as I prepared to take lift off. I couldn't bare to spend any more time near her.

Hands wrapped around my neck as I gasped, being tugged backwards. Knees collided with my back, directly where my wings sprouted from, immobilizing them from moving. I reached up towards her hands, clawing at them as I attempted to suck in air.

The pressure against my wind pipe was too much for my throat to handle. I turned side to side, digging my nails into her skin as light started to build in my hands. She turned us around, face-planting me on the ground with her knees still remaining on my back.

Oxygen started to seep away, my vision becoming dotted with black. I squirmed in her grasp, attempting to stand up only for her to lift my head and bash it against the airport concrete.

Blood dribbled down my face, falling onto the concrete below me. I sucked in as much air as I could manage, which fretfully wasn't much at all. I twisted my head and smacked my ear against the concrete, hearing my mic activate.

I jumbled out incoherent words, struggling to fight off Steph's hold on me. I feebly elbowed her side before feeling more pressure on my throat. I choked, saliva and blood dribbling past my gaped lips as I longed for oxygen.

My mind fogged, racing back to when Louis had me captured for that duration of time. The feeling of being endlessly electrocuted, the bullet wounds still remaining on my body at the time was absolutely and utterly horrendous.

Static sounded in my ear before a voice as clear as day spoke up.

"Did anyone else hear that?"

"Yeah, I heard that Cap. Hoped it was the sins of my past crawling up to get me."

"Tic Tac, this isn't the time for jokes. Who was that?"

"I have an idea of who."

Clint's voice was heavenly to hear at that point. I attempted to raise my head before Steph smashed it against the concrete once again. Any oxygen that I had stored left my body, leaving me breathless. My eyes lidded as blood pooled beneath me, dripping endlessly like a broken pipe. Her grip remained as she tried to make sure I was actually loosing consciousness.

The familiar sound of Sam's wings came and the pressure on my neck faded. I sucked in air, wheezing as I began to cough uncontrollably. My sides burned at the feeling of oxygen entering my lungs again. I raised my head and spat blood from my mouth, rubbing it weakly as I wheezed, "Thank the fucking stars for that Sam. I owe you one."

"You don't owe me shit. Get to Cap. It's almost time."

I staggered up to my feet before nodding feebly, knowing that he couldn't even see that action. I tested my wings, stretching them to see how they felt after Steph so kindly kneed me in the back. They felt sore, but nothing unbearable.

With another painful cough, I took up into the sky, immediately making my way over towards the sky. I flew straight up, my wings breaking through the air as fast as they could. It hurt, fuck, it burned. But I had to push through it. I had to get there in time.

I glanced behind me to see the quinjet racing towards me. I spun around and dived down before swooping back up once it flew overhead. I pushed as much power as I could into my wings, watching as the door to the quinjet opened and a familiar metal hand was extended out for me.

I grabbed onto it quickly, my wings fading away as I tumbled into Bucky, the two of us colliding on the floor of the quinjet as the door shut. I raised my head and looked behind and to the door before pressing one of my hands to my neck.

I just lost my best friend.
