I expanded my wings, leaping into the air at one of the flying robots overhead. I grabbed onto it's leg, yanking them down and twisting overhead, my fingers digging through the metal wiring on the leg. I placed my hand against the back of it's head, light shooting out and through the robot.

The lights dimmed from it's body and I let go, watching it fall onto the pavement below. I flicked my wings and flew back, folding them in as I landed on the ground.

My back was facing Wanda as I shot several blasts at the invading robots, my hair blowing in the wind as I ducked, watching red shoot out at one I had missed. I looked back at her, nodding, "Thanks."

"No problem," Wanda responded, her accent thick as she turned back to continue engaging in the fight.

I glanced around before looking back at her, nodding at Clint as I stepped back, letting the rest of the light engulf my body.

He looked back at me, eyes narrowed before he shook his head rapidly, "Fuck no Nicole, you aren't doing that. Fury made you do it once and you almost died."

"I'm not doing what you think I am," I hissed, shooting the light out from my body in front of me, creating one large, thick spear.

I let out a grunt of pain as my head throbbed, and I glared at the incoming robots. Clint nodded before racing off in his own direction. Wanda grabbed a nearby citizen and followed Clint, leading them away.

I expanded my wings and lifted into the air, bringing the spear with me. I pointed it into the air while I whipped myself around, splitting one of the robots in half.

I threw it through another, drawing the light from it back into my hands and making several other spears. I flew higher into the air and looking around, eyes narrowed, "Pipe, tell me when..."

A faint and broken voice came over the comms, "The water--damaged--"

"Dammit. Alright, eyeballing it," I muttered, releasing my hold on the spears and watching them rain down, pinning robots down.

I released my hands, watching as each spear exploded and destroyed the robot attached to it. I flicked my wings as I turned around, flying down to where Clint and Wanda were.

Robotic noises came from behind and I groaned, turning my head to see ten robots pursuing me. One had already launched an attack at me.

I drew my wings in, falling straight down before expanding them again, flying threw the window that the other two had jumped through. I rolled over onto my side, getting to my feet and created a large shield, big enough to cover the window.

I looked back at Wanda, seeing her hyperventilating, "How could I let this happen?"

"Hey, hey, you okay?" Clint asked, hurrying over to where she was. I felt resistance against the shield and I pushed it back more, glancing back at the two of them.

"This is all our fault," She cried, leaning back against a wall.

"Hey, look at me. It's your fault, it's everyone's fault. Who cares?" Clint responded, looking back to me. I nodded slowly.

"Are you up for this? Are you?" I added, looking into her eyes, "Look, we just need to know because the city is flying. Okay? Look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and he has a bow and arrow, and I just got wings and light. None of this makes sense."

Bullets came through the room and Clint stood up, shooting out the holes that were made. He leaned down to look her in the eyes, "But we're going back out there because it's our job. Okay? And we can't do our job and babysit. It doesn't matter what you did or what you were. If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill."

"Stay in here, you're good. I'll send your brother to come find you. But if you step out that door, you are an Avenger," I finished, looking into Wanda's eyes. She looked back to me, her breathing calming, "Maybe the only interactions we've had have been bad, but that's what we do. We're people. We're not always good, but this is something we need to stop. You're a part of this team now. And we trust you to have our backs, and we have yours."

Clint got to his feet and walked to the door, nodding at me and racing out. I looked back down at Wanda and got rid of the shield, heading to the door. I looked at her and knelt down, my eyes meeting hers, "You are gifted and talented. You let yourself be controlled by him and it cost you this. I didn't realize I was wrong until way later. We'll go out there and kill that son of a bitch, okay?"

Wanda nodded, getting up to her feet and facing the door. Her eyes started to glow red as she walked out of the door. I let light form in my hands as I followed her.

She disassembled robots and tossed them to and fro, against walls and each other. I raised my hands and beamed several other robots. Clint got up from where he was hiding, looking at Wanda and I before nodding curtly.

He walked over to the two of us, speaking over the comms, "All right, we're all clear here."

I looked at him before snapping my fingers, smiling slightly, "Do you have an extra ear piece? Mine's messed up from the water."

Clint nodded and fished one out of his pockets, tossing it to me. I pulled out my old one and clipped the new one in, hearing Steve's voice, "We are not clear! We are very not clear!"

"All right, coming to you," Clint sighed.

Pietro ran by, scooping Wanda up into his arms and racing off, yelling, "Keep up, old man!"

I laughed, watching as Clint raised his bow, aiming it in the direction they went, "Nobody would know. Nobody."

"I'm a nobody?" I hummed, pressing down on the comms and turning it on, so my voice could come through.

Clint grinned, and I walked over to him, gesturing a hand for him to grab. He grabbed onto it and I flew up into the air, listening to him talk, "The last I saw him, an Ultron was sitting on him. Yeah, he'll be missed, that quick little bastard. I miss him already."

We continued to fly as Steve's voice came over the comms, "The next wave is going to hit any minute. What do you got, Stark?"

"Huh? Nothing great," Tony replied, his voice sounding crestfallen, "Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface, if you guys can get clear."

"All due respect Tony, that's not what Steve had in mind," I responded, my feathers ruffling as Clint and I continued to fly, "And we can't do that if there are still civilians in the city. The damage will be devastating."

"The impact radius is getting bigger every second Nicole. We're gonna have to make a choice."

"Cap, these people are going nowhere," Natasha added, "If Stark finds a way to blow this rock..."

"Not till everyone's safe," Steve denied.

"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there," Natasha retorted.

"I'm not leaving this rock with one civilian on it," Steve responded.

"I didn't say we should leave. There's worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?"

I flicked my wings and flew down, landing beside Steve. I let Clint go and he shivered, "Gets cold flying like that."

I shrugged, before hearing Fury's voice coming over the comms, "Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better."

A helicarrier rose up from where the four of us were standing, and I shook my head, a small chuckle coming from me, "Never thought I'd miss this thing."

"Nice, right? Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."

"Fury, you son of a bitch," Steve grinned, looking at the helicarrier.

"Ooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Fury responded. I could practically hear the smirk coming from his voice.

I laughed, looking at Steve before noticing Pietro. He looked at it then back to us, "This is SHIELD?"

I shook my head, "No, this is what SHIELD is supposed to be."

"This is not so bad," Pietro smiled.
