ARC 1 CHAPTER 12: Forest Of Death

Suddenly a figure came in, spectacularlycrashing trough a window, threw two kunais to the ceiling to set up a banner and stood there imposingly

'Is this part of a test?!' Naruto thought shocked.

Ibiki sighed. 'Jumped the gun as usual...'

The figure turns out to be a young woman in her early twenties. The woman has light brown, pupil-less eyes. Her hair is styled in a short, spiky, fanned-ponytail. She wears a fitted mesh body suit that covers her from her neck down to her thighs. Over this she wears a tan overcoat with a purple in-seam and a pocket on each side, a dark orange mini-skirt, a dark blue belt, and pale grey shin guards. She also wears a small pendant that looks like a snake fang and a wrist watch.

"How many are there?" Anko looks at Ibiki, annoyed. "Ibiki, did you let all these guys pass? Your test must be too easy, you must be getting soft..."

"Or it could be... a stronger crop of candidates this year..." Ibiki spoke.

"Hm." Anko smirks. "Sure don't look like it... trust me, when I'm done with them, more than half of 'em will be eliminated."

Anko has brought the genins who had passed the first part of the exam to their destination. It was an entrance trough the gate, to a massive forest, the entire forest was surrounded by a tall fence.

"Wow... where are we?" Sakura asked.

Anko smirked. "This is the next faze of the chunin exam, it's called Training Ground 44, or as I like to call it... The Forest of Death, soon enough you'll find out why...."

Karah huffed." It CalleD ForeSt of deaTh" glulp Karah "you can send me where ever ya want, you don't scare me, Dattebaye!"

Anko gave a closed eye smile and tilted her head. "Oh, I see we have a big shot here..." Suddenly Anko pulled out a kunai from her coat's sleeve and threw it at karah, barely missing her head and faster than the Namikaze could react.

"Feeling tough now?" Anko appeared behind Karah in a blink of an eye. "It's runts like you that bark the loudest and then end up crying the loudest as well..."

Anko walked back in front of everyone and pulled out some documents. "Right, before we start, I need you all to read over this form and it."

"Consent for what?" Sakura asked.

Anko chuckled "Well let's just say, if you had an unfortunate accident, it's not gonna be m fault, it's completely on you."

Everyone started whispering among themselves out of concern.

"Okay, the first thing you need to know is that this exam will test your survival skills, also I'll show you the description of the terrain." Anko pulls out a map of the forest. "The forest of death has forty-four, locked entrance gates, there are rivers and tall trees that reach about a 100 meters or 320 feet height. In the center there's a locked tower, located 10 kilometers or 6 miles away from each gate." And Anko pulls out two scrolls. "These are your objective, each team will have either the earth scroll or the heaven scroll, none of you will know which team will have which scroll and once you have both heaven and earth scrolls, you'll have to get inside the tower, like I said, it's located in the middle of the forest... also, everything's permitted, as long as you finish the exam." Anko gave a sadistic smile. "Oh, you'll also have a time limit, which is 120 hours, or five days.

"What?! What are we supposed to eat?!" Choji spoke concerned.

"Just look around, the forest is full food." Anko spoke.

"Yeah, but that's not the only thing this forest is full of..." Sasuki spoke up. "The forest is full of man eating beasts and poisonous plants, one wrong move and it won't be the enemy that kills you."

Naruto frowned. 'Damn... a harsh environment, surrounded by enemies, which means that the days will become longer and the nights shorter, giving us not much time to rest and we'll have to stay on high alert all the time... by the end of this faze of the exam, more than half of us will fail... this will prove to be challenging...'

"Also..." Anko snapped Naruto from his thoughts. "There are rules you have to know about if you don't want get disqualified... rule one: if a team fails to arrive at the tower with both scrolls by the end of the time limit, they fail. Rule two: if one of your teammates dies, gets incapacitated, or becomes so injured that he can't continue the exam, they all fail. Rule three: under no circumstances you are allowed to open the scrolls, you do that and the whole team fails."

"Umm... what if the scroll, like drops accidentally and opens?" Naruto asks.

Anko smirks. "Let me make this clear.... YOU. DON'T. WANT. TO. KNOW. Think of it like a top secret mission and your job is to deliver the documents, safely, to their destination. And a shinobi must have his integrity and not open the documents." Anko explained. "Oh, right... one more thing... Team 7 of Konohagakure, your time limit will be much shorter.. you'll have 60 hours to complete the exam."

"What?!" Sasuke cries out in outrage.

"You heard me." Anko spoke.

(Time skip)

Everyone signed their consents and got their scrolls. Naruto's team has the heaven scroll, so they'll need to get their hands on the earth scroll, but they have no idea which teams have the earth scrolls.

"Hm! This is gonna be easy, survival and tracking is our specialty, there's no way were gonna lose!" Hinata rubbed her hands together.

"That's the spirit, Hinata!" Kiba cheered on.

"It's a bit too soon to gloat... we don't even know our opponents' abilities..." Shino remarked.

Shikamaru stretched his arms in a lazy manner. "The test might cost us our lives, what a drag... but if we have to do this... let's just try an look for someone that won't put much of a fight."

Karah and her team were just about to go trough the gate, but she was stopped by Anko.

"So, you're the Yondaime's little gaki? How ya doing? Great? Awesome, so listen, your sensei wanted me to make sure that you're keeping your whisker marks hidden." The proctor spoke.

"Umm... yeah, I am.." karah spoke.

"Great So go on then, don't let me stop you... oh and I have some advise to give you... don't die." Anko waved and left.

Karah! Hurry up!" Sasuki shouted and the Namikaze came back running.
