I only realized just how difficult it was to get myself dressed with Alex in the room the day I got him wasted and accidentally discovered his playful side.

But he wasn't drunk now.

No, he hadn't had a sip of alcohol in months, but that didn't stop him from messing with my buttons.

"Stop it." With a frown, I slapped away the hand crawling up my chest then sighed in resignation when I looked down and found that it had managed to unbutton my shirt. . .for the fifth time.

"What do you want, Alex?"

He leaned back until his back hit the headrest but his hand remained on my hip, his fingers tracing circles and zigzags along my skin. "Why do you have to wear that shirt?"

I looked down at the dress shirt he had bought for me then let me gaze drift back to his eyes. He didn't gel his hair today so most of it fell down to frame his face.

I smiled and started fiddling with the buttons again. "The same reason you're wearing your favorite suit right now."

"You could wear nothing," he argued, scanning me from head to toe with a gaze full of intent. "You look good in that."

"Sorry, Alex," I said, wanting to get dressed before he was at it again, "I'm not eager to die young."

He did not look pleased and everything but his lazy smile told me so. "Ron won't kill her birthday present."

"Yes, I forgot," I flashed him a tight-lipped smile, "you're the one with a death wish."

In retaliation, he hooked his finger through my belt hole and tugged hard.

I tripped over the edge of the bed and landed on his lap. "Hey!"

He wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. "What if I do?"

"Alex," I tried and failed to pry his arms off me, "I have to get dressed."

He hummed in what I hoped was agreement then bit my ear. A steamy exhale fanned across the crook of my neck as he pulled me tighter against his chest.

He bit me again, harder this time, then started nibbling on my ear lobe.

"This," it was a struggle to ignore him but I did, "is not the time."

"It'll be a while till Ron gets back," he said then planted a kiss on my temple, "please?"

"We're already screwed," I reminded him.

He had started kissing his way down my face but he paused to speak. "So doing it a second time won't make a difference."

"Your logic is ridiculous." I struggled in his grip. "If Ron sees me like this—"

"If I see you like what?"

Three things happened at the same time.

One, Alex shoved me to the floor.

Two, Ron entered the bedroom.

Three, I had never buttoned up a shirt so fast in my life.
