A/N: Sorry it's been a while, but by the length of this chapter, you can see I've been busy! Hope you enjoy this next chapter!

To say the reservations were made pretty last minute, the B&B Susie had booked was beautiful and cozy and in a relatively quiet area of the city. From all the gangster movies I'd seen in my life (which honestly wasn't a lot!) I was expecting broken glass, sirens and a crime happening on every block, but from what I saw getting off the plane, going into the airport and also in the Taxi ride that took us to our B&B, it was surprisingly beautiful, busy and bright.

The buildings towered over us with only tiny patches of the sky being seen when you stood on the pavement and looked up. Graffiti seemed to be tagged on every visible wall in every conceivable neighbourhood and al of them were beautiful...made me wish I had any sort of drawing or painting ability! It also didn't take as long as I thought to get to our accommodation more Hollywood trickery!) and the tax driver was honestly so nice and hospitable! Even helped us take our luggage inside and even offered to take the upstairs for us.

Once we had checked in, we opened up our little apartment that we'd be living in for the next few days and was pleasantly surprised by how homely it was. Two beds with lovely crisp white sheets, complimentary towels, slippers and dressing gown, a desk chair and table in the corner wit complimentary stationery, a wardrobe and drawers and a large window with a view of the street below.

I drop my stuff on the floor and flop on the bed, feeling rather sluggish and tired from the flight and the very short lived 2 hour nap I had before being rudely awakened by Susie. The sheets were very soft and a felt myself practically melt into them.

"Annnnnd we're here!" Susie exclaims from the other side of the room, flopping down on her own bed. "We're in NYC, everything's going according to plan and" But before she can finish her sentence her phone starts pinging. She laughs, picking up her phone and swiping to see the messages she was getting. "And right on cue, here's Mum with her tsunami of worried, concerned and rather angry messages.

She read them out to me in short bursts but I was too tired to be scared of what Aunt Alice could possibly do to us when we get back to the UK. She was about half way through the 47 messages she had received when I finally found the strength to get up and headed towards the bathroom, grabbing the towels, slippers and dressing gown as I go. "Well, I'm taking a shower, I'd rather feel refreshed and awake before I face her wrath over the phone when I call her later tonight."

I make sure to take my time in the shower, using the shampoo and conditioner provided by the B&B and scrubbing at my skin with the soap also provided. So many thoughts flitted through my mind as I rinse the days dirt away and the plane nap from me; mostly of Aunt Alice and her anger over me disobeying her wishes to not try and do anything too rash.

But I also thought of my Dad. How maybe this was a silly- no, absolutely IDIOTIC IDEA! It's been 16 years since he last spoke to my mother, he had no idea she was even pregnant, he's moved on with his life and probably moved on to another woman, made a family with her and seeing from my research how well his career is going...

What if he doesn't want to meet me? What if this completely upends his life ad world and its all my fault and he hates me for it? Was I being selfish?

Wrapping up my hair in a towel and putting on the slippers and dressing gown, I try not to let the thoughts and emotions I was currently experiencing overwhelm me as I emerge from the bathroom and sit down on my bed.

I picked up the telephone receiver and punch in Aunt Alice's number, my heart thudding away in my chest as the dial tone hummed.

No amount of bracing could of prepared me for the tidal wave of ranting and raging that would soon befall me when Alice answered the phone. I lost count of the amount of the times she said "I am so disappointed with you!" And "I swear to god I thought you were more sensible than this!" And kind of zoned out of most of her screaming, ranting and lecturing, exchanging looks and facial expressions with Susie who was trying her hardest not to snort with laughter.
