Noboru met up with the others outside Castle the next day. He wanted to show them the blank buddyfight cards that Bal came with.
"Look at this." He said, showing said blank cards. "Blank buddyfight cards." Davide said. "Yeah. And neither of us know where they came from." Noboru said, looking at his new buddy aka Bal. "I think each of us should take one, there's four of them and four of us after all." The tiger shirt fighter handed each of the cards to the buddyfighters.
"I hope mine turns into a spell. Maybe something that can deal damage like Thunder Mine." Bolt looked at his card. "I'd go with an impact too. Something to strengthen our Omni Pillars." Davide said, looking at his card as well. "Hmmm. I don't know what I'd like for mine. Can't be a monster, right?" Sakate asked. "Probably not Sakate." Noboru answered. 'What should mine be?' Kitten Shirt then thought.
"Austeen Foxnspray? Is that you?" A voice from behind Davide and Bolt then cut through everyone's thoughts over the cards.
'Wait. Only one person I know would call me by that name. I hope it's not them.' Davide thought as he turned around hoping the source of the voice wasn't who he thought it was.
It was.
"Ka...Kazane Fujimiya right?" Davide was surprised and maybe a little nervous having run into her like this. "Yeah.....What are you doing here?" Kazane was nervous too, but for a different reason.
"Kazane! I haven't seen you in a long time!" Noboru said, coming up to her. "Noboru!? What are you doing hanging around with him?" Kazane asked, pointing at Davide. "Hey..." Davide said a little taken aback by Kazane's new attitude. Also, her kind of rudely pointing at him. "Kazane you mustn't point my dear. It's rude." Her buddy Bladewing Phoenix spoke up from inside her jacket hood. "Oh....Sorry." His buddyfighter muttered.
"Look Kazane, you don't have to be nervous. Davide's changed...I think." Noboru tried reassuring her. Davide just glared at the kitten shirt fighter like 'Thanks for having my back.' Kazane gave Davide a wary look and then looked back at Noboru. "I'd like to trust what you say Noboru. But I can't really trust a cheater like him." Kazane said, warily.
What she said though caught Bolt and Sakate by surprise. They didn't know he was a cheater after all. "What does she mean by cheater Davide?" Bolt asked a now ashamed Davide. "This guy cheated during our match. He used a card out of his pocket instead of his deck." Kazane told them.
"This true Davide?" Sakate asked, hoping it wasn't true.
Davide just said nothing looking down at the ground. "I.....I did cheat but...." He stammered.
"Davide..."
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" Davide screamed, interrupting what Bolt was about to say. He then took off running away leaving a startled group behind and Kiri running after him. "Davide! Come back!" Kiri ran after him. "Oh dear...." Kazane stood there shocked. "What did I just do?" She asked, ashamed of what she just started.
Bolt came up and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright Kazane." "No, it's not! I just practically insulted him by bringing that up!" Kazane shouted at him. "Especially when it looks like he was trying to change." The dungeon buddyfighter said. "That's exactly what's happening." Noboru spoke up. "He's trying to be a better person." He added. "I think I'll apologize once Kiri brings him back." Kazane looked down. Bolt just nodded in agreement.
Sakate was just watching their whole interaction. He thought about how Davide must feel right now. 'Poor Davide. I hope he's alright.' He thought.
"Davide stop running away!" Kiri said as he was chasing his buddy down the road. "Quit following me Omni Lord!" Davide shouted back at the monster. "No way! You're not getting away from me that easily!" Kiri said and managed to tackle Davide. The both hit the ground with a loud thud.
The dungeon buddyfighter struggled under the surprisingly strong grip of his buddy. "Let me go you icy freak!" He shouted. "Davide. Just calm down." Kiri said. Davide struggled for a little bit more and then gave up. "There we go." The monster smiled in triumph over the fight against his buddy. "Why are you trying so hard to be like this? First being my buddy and now this?" Davide groaned. "I'm just trying to help."
"Some help you're being." The buddyfighter growled. Kiri just said nothing as his buddy sighed. "Why is it so hard for me to change?" He grumbled. "It is hard to change Davide but look at yourself now. The old Davide wouldn't be trying to help others like you're doing." Kiri finally let Davide up and the two sat on the ground together.
"You want to get you and the others' decks back right? I'd say the old Davide would care less about what's going on. You're proving that you've changed. Even if it's just a little." Kiri told him, hoping it lifts his spirits. "Who wants a cheater on their team though?" Davide said sadly. "Did you cheat in that match with Sakate?" Kiri asked.
His buddy thought for a second before the realization hit him. "No....I didn't." He said and finally looked at Kiri. Kiri smiled as a few seconds of silence passed between them. "If you ask me, the others wouldn't care if you cheated back then. As long as you continue to be loyal to them and don't cheat now, I'm sure they won't think differently about you." Kiri said. "And if not?" Davide asked. "Then I'll talk some sense into them, you can count on me...buddy." Kiri said.
The dungeon buddyfighter just stared at his buddy. "Thanks...I guess." He said and Kiri just smiled, knowing this was about as much emotion he'd get out of his buddy for now.
There would be plenty of time for Davide to warm up to him after all...
