Poland (Feliks Łukasiewicz) x Reader
Beeps echoed throughout the otherwise silent hospital room. (Y/N) stared at the machine in a daze and focused on the slow beating of her heart. The rhythmic action soothed her nerves and helped her momentarily forget about her condition and her situation. "(Y/N!" A familiar voice called out, filled with happiness and unquenchable energy. She looked away from the machine and smiled over at her boyfriend Feliks who eagerly made his way over to her bed. He took a seat in the chair next to the hospital bed and carefully took her hand in his "How are you feeling today?" "A bit better" she replied, smiling softly to ease the obvious pain he felt at seeing her hospitalized. He smiled and gently squeezed her hand "Good. I don't want to see you in pain." She shifted in her bed and ignored the discomfort it gave her to move.
She turned her head to get a better view of him "Why don't you tell me about your day? It always cheers me up to hear about you." He watched her carefully for a moment before he nodded and started describing his day in detail. (Y/N) watched him silently with a small content smile on her face. She observed his expression as he talked. A smile lit up his face as he talked about the lunch he had with Toris, but she took note of the tenseness in his smile and the absence of proper joy in his voice. She knew her sudden hospitalization had come as a shock to him and affected his greatly. She wanted to get better and return back to their life together in their tiny apartment in Poland, but she knew it wasn't going to happen. His story shifted from his lunch to the bakery he had visited before he had come to see her. He described in great detail the layout of the bakery, it's smells, the people lounging around, and the gentle music that had come out of the speakers.
Feliks finished his description and turned to rummage in the bag he had brought. (Y/N) curiously peered over to get a glimpse and watched as he removed a pink and white box. Feliks handed the box to her "I got you a pastry. I promise that you'll love it." (Y/N) gently took the box and traced her hand over the small drawings of the unicorns. She smiled at the sight and immediately knew why Feliks had entered the cafe in the first place. She carefully opened the box in an effort to not ruin it and peered down at the pastry in front of her. Her grip on the box tightened as tears formed in her eyes. "(Y/N)" Feliks cautiously asked, sounding similar to the person she had first met four years ago. She wiped away her tears and gently closed the box "Thank you Feliks. I love it." (Y/N) placed the box on the table by her bed and turned to properly smile at her boyfriend "I'll eat it later. I want to be able to cherish it."
Feliks agreed with a bright smile "Anything interesting happen today?" (Y/N) paused to think for a moment before describing her experience with a child who came running into her room to steal her pudding cup. Feliks sat in his chair with a small smile and prompted her to continue explaining at some parts of the story. A knock on the door drew both of their attentions and the conversation ground to a halt at the sight of the doctor. The doctor entered the room and stood at the end of the hospital bed "I have some news regarding your condition." He glanced over at Feliks and (Y/N) shook her head "He can stay." The pair silently listened as the doctor explained the severity of her condition and the low chance of recovery. "Thank you" she replied, reaching out to grip Feliks' hand for support. He tightened his grip on her hand as the doctor exited the room to deal with other patients.
Silence loomed over the pair as they both struggled to process the words they had just heard. (Y/N) recovered first and turned to look over at the person she loved more than anything in the world "Feliks." He shook his head and kept his gaze focused on the hospital floor as tears formed in his eyes "No. It's not true." (Y/N) took a deep breath to ease her shaking and calm her voice "Feliks. Please look at me." The blonde shakily lifted his head to look up at her. She smiled softly at him "We're going to have to say goodbye one day Feliks. That day has just come sooner than expected." "Why do you have to leave so early?" He asked, "I'm not ready yet." "We still have some time. Let's use the most of it" she explained, trying not break down. He stood up from his chair and enveloped her in a hug "You're right." He pulled away and blinked away his tears with a small smile "Let's make the most of it."
