Switzerland (Basch Zwingli) x Reader

Distant shouting could be heard from within the small cottage. Lili calmly sipped her tea and (Y/N) glanced out the window "Will he be okay?" Lili gently placed the teacup back on its plate with a soft smile "Big brother is very strong. He's doing his best to keep us safe." (Y/N) fully turned her attention to the door "I understand that and I trust that he'll keep us safe, but....I'd like to help him. Basch means a lot to me and I would feel horrible if he were to be harmed." Lili watched her with a fond smile "He knows that. I'd like to help too, but it's better if we stay here. Basch would be upset if one of us was hurt." (Y/N) nodded in resignation and turned her attention back to her full cup of tea.

Moments later Basch entered the cottage with a tired expression and his gun in his right hand. He looked over the peaceful scene and smiled slightly "Everything was ok?" Lili nodded with a bright smile "Nothing happened." He looked over at (Y/N) and she nodded in agreement. He nodded in satisfaction and retired to his room to clean up. (Y/N) watched the door to his bedroom in silence momentarily before looking over at Lili "Should I ask him if he needs anything?" Lili sighed and rested her hand on her hip while she gazed at her friend with stern eyes "You're his girlfriend, not his maid." (Y/N) cracked a smile at the abrupt answer before sitting down on the couch "I know. I just can't help, but worry." "You need to have more faith in him" Lili replied, gently taking a seat next to her on the couch.

She remained silent as she thought over Lili's words. She sat up straight on the couch and grabbed Lili's hands "You're right. From now on, I'll trust him completely." Lili blinked at the sudden change of behaviour before smiling "There's the girl he fell in love with." (Y/N) stared at Lili as heat rushed to her cheeks "Pardon?" Lili stood up from the couch and attempted to straighten the wrinkles in her dress "I'm going to bed. I'll see you in the morning." (Y/N) moved to follow her "You can't just leave after announcing that." Basch entered the room and she froze. He observed the two of them before silently taking a seat on the couch next to her. Lili smiled in victory when (Y/N) settled herself once again on the couch "Goodnight big brother! Goodnight (Y/N)!" Basch muttered out a low "goodnight" and (Y/N) wished her a goodnight while sending her friend a small look of future interrogation.

Lili retired to her room and (Y/N) glanced over at Basch who remained content to sit in silence as he watched television. She shifted closer to him and he looked over at her with reddening cheeks. "How was today?" She asked, watching him from the corner of her eye with amusement at the red decorating his cheeks. He made a noise of irritation and she smiled "Feliciano again?" Basch nodded "And he dragged his brother with him." "Poor Lovino" she murmured, "Did anything else happen today? I heard shouting earlier in the day." He frowned at the memory "That was the Italian brothers. Feliciano was screaming for Ludwig and Kiku, while Lovino was cussing out his brother." (Y/N) smiled at the mental image of the two half-nations running for cover from Basch's assault.

Her smile soon disappeared when fully processed his words. Despite her conversation with Lili, worry continued to bother her. She moved closer to him on the couch and ignored his embarrassed noise at the close proximity "Are you okay? You weren't hurt, were you? You did head to your room the moment you entered the cottage." Basch looked away from her "I'm fine." "Are you sure?" She asked, concern clear from her expression. He silently nodded and she moved away slightly to give him some room to breathe. "Is there anything I can do?" (Y/N) asked, watching him carefully for signs of a lie.

He watched her with observant green eyes before sighing and giving her a small smile "What you're doing is enough." She smiled and pecked his lips "Ok." He stared at her as he attempted to internally deal with his emotions. She smiled at his behaviour "How cute." Basch turned his attention towards the television in an attempt to hide his red face from her gaze. "One last thing" she stated, and he reluctantly looked over at him with a monotone expression as the red slowly disappeared from his face "If you ever need help, please tell me." He nodded with slight hesitation "Ok." She smiled brightly at him and snuggled into him, despite his protest, and turned to watch the movie on the tv.

Notes:

Prompt: Trust. I originally had a different idea, but it didn't work out which is why the beginning paragraph sounds a bit different than the other ones.

He's not much of a dialogue person so it was a bit hard to figure out how a conversation with him would work

I understand that some readers aren't assertive, but with him, it's kind of necessary to be assertive

I hope you enjoyed this
