final

*Ricky POV*

after what felt like forever the timer went off, Nini and I looked at each other as she slowly lifted the test up and I saw her face drop.

Negative.

"We can just keep trying baby, it might just take some time," I told her as I could see the pain on her face, and then as we drifted to sleep cuddling I could hear the sniffles from Nini as she tried to hide it, I placed a kiss on her head before finally, we fell asleep.

The alarm went off at 6 am and Nini was already up as I could hear her in the kitchen, I jumped in the shower and got ready for the day so I could start work once everyone left. once i was ready I made my way to the kitchen as I made myself a cup of coffee and watched Nini who was sitting on the deck outside, I left her alone as I knew this was hurting her, Nini had her heart set on one more kid and we already had complications with the twins and even falling pregnant. We had tests done to make sure and we were healthy but unlucky.

"Morning" Nini whispered waking me from my trance "Morning, how are you feeling?" I asked her as she looked upset "fine, I have errands to run after school so I won't be home till a bit later. I'm going to go get ready so can you do breakfast, please" as she gave me a kiss and went to our room.

I walked to Avery's room first and got her up "Morning daddy" she always greeted me with cuddles in the morning "Can you get dressed then daddy will make you breakfast", I gave her a kiss on the head before going to the twin's room. They got up with a bit of struggle as we chose what to wear, they chose matching overalls and we walked to the kitchen together. I got breakfast cereals and milk out and helped them get it all ready, They all ate silently and quickly before helping clean up and I grabbed their bags for them and got them ready just as Nini was walking out of the room. "Bye honey," she said giving me a quick kiss as I got cuddles from the kids and watched Nini drive off.

I headed to the backyard studio and started working, today mainly consisted of grading music papers and planning some lessons, the school had been very accomodating and I only went in 2 days a week for the classes I taught so most days I was home working. I'd finished what I needed to by 1 pm so I had lunch and left to get the twins at 1:30 then Avery at 2. Once the car was full we stopped at the McDonalds drive-thru and had ice cream to celebrate it being Friday. Then finally we were home and the kids left to play while I cleaned the house a bit.

*Nini POV*

"Nina Bowen" the receptionist called and I made my way to the little room "Well Mrs. Bowen, your perfectly healthy nothing seems to be wrong. Some people just don't fall pregnant and with your previous, you knew the struggle. I can recommend taking some pre-natal vitamins that might help but other than that we can't do much. If you are still having trouble 6 months down the track, we might look into other options such as IVF or surrogacy"

I left the doctors feeling defeated. We just kept trying and nothing was happening. I made my way home and pulled into the driveway, grabbing my things out of the car and making my way inside. I was met by 3 little humans running to hug me. "hi babies, come on let's go find your dad" Ricky was already in the kitchen making dinner for all of us, he gave me a kiss on the cheek hello and. Went to our room to have a shower while he finished getting it ready, we sat eating all together before finally putting the kids to bed. I didn't tell Ricky that I had been to the doctor as I didn't want him to get worried hearing we should be able to have another kid.

*3 Months Later*

A lot can happen in 3 months, Ricky was offered a new role at his school helping design a new music program and a music scholarship system. I rarely saw him as he was busy and it was starting to strain our relationship but we still tried even though we were both busy to spend time together as well as with our children. 

'Ok let's settle down, today we are going on a field trip to see another school put on a performance of Wicked' I had a giggle as I remembered when I performed in Wicked at East High and now I was going to see it again, All the kids were sitting on the bus ready to go excited as we drove off I started to feel sick but it went away quickly, finally, we arrived at the school and everyone hopped off and we made our way to the auditorium where we would watch the performance. 

Halfway through Act 1, I started to feel sick again so I left for the bathroom, and not long once I stepped foot in there i was sick into the toilet, instantly I knew what it could mean as i had felt like this with Avery. i made sure to remind myself to go to the chemist on the way home and headed back to the Auditorium for the rest of the play.

*Ricky POV*

Meeting after meeting. It made me wonder why I took this role then I remembered it came with a jump in salary and was going to make a huge impact on students' lives once it started. it took a toll on my life with Nini as we didn't see each other much as I would not get home till later but we had weekends together at least. 

today felt like the most normal day as we finished meetings at 12 so I was able to sit in my office grading students' papers and emailing parents about the upcoming programs. Nini and i spoke throughout the day and she had called me once they finished their field trip to tell me she was going to do spaghetti for dinner which we both knew was Avery's favourite so she'd be excited.

I finally left school at 5:30 to head home, I called my dad on the way to check in with him as well as make plans to have him over Saturday night for a family dinner. I made it through the door smelling dinner and being greeted by 3 little bodies toppling me over, making my way to the kitchen I greeted Nini and went quickly upstairs to have a shower so I could feel refreshed at dinner, I felt the hot water run down my back and had a moment to breathe alone in my thoughts.

We ate dinner as the kids told us about their day and then helped with homework before settling them into their PJs and bed. I came back to the kitchen as Nini was cleaning up silently. 'how was the field trip, bring back memories' i asked her and giggled as I said the last part, 'yeah it was good' she responded and it fell silent as we finished cleaning and getting stuff ready for tomorrow. Finally, the silence was broken with Nini speaking,

'Ricky, I'm pregnant.
