Severus returned home to the quaint house and started pulling out small cut out photographs of his daughter and late wife. He wished Amelia could have been there to see their daughter off this morning at the train station, he wished he never left the wizarding world in the first place.

Severus Snape worked at Hogwarts under Albus Dumbledore for quite some time, he was the potions professor, seen as a very respectable authority. He helped within the Ministry of Magic alongside Arthur Weasley and Kinglsey Shacklebot, Voldemort was long gone from power after the second battle; he was finally living a fulfilled life.

He and Amelia met at Hogwarts in their second year and instantly connected, both housed in Slytherin and most interested in potions, they spent most of their time together. After graduating Hogwarts, they went off and got married and had their daughter, Poppy, whom they adored. She had Severus sleek black hair and Amelias icy blue eyes. Poppy was named Poppy Willow Snape after their favorite spot to meet and spend time together, the Whomping Willow found on Hogwarts grounds, one of the oldest trees at the school.

They introduced Poppy to the wizarding world at a young age, they went to quidditch matches and Hogsmeade on the weekends, they read the Daily Prophet where Poppy was fascinated with the moving pictures. Their dishes cleaned themselves, quilts were made quietly in the corner by the fireplace, everything they could have ever dreamed of came true.

They always planned to send Poppy to Hogwarts until that night happened.

There was word that Voldemort was gaining power and was making a come back into the wizarding world, only this time, he did not have many followers, as they all had moved on with their lives. Severus had heard from the ministry that an attack was planned on Voldemorts once loyal followers, he wanted revenge on all the death eaters who abandoned him long ago, thinking he would never return again.

Once he heard this, Severus rushed home to protect his wife and child, as he used to be a spy and loyal follower to the Dark Lord. He called Lucius Malfoy and warned them as well, he did not want to see his friends die due to a mistake made long ago.

The night the attack was planned was quiet, snow gently falling, it was almost Christmas and Poppy had just turned 10, she would be going to Hogwarts the following year. They sat around their cozy home drinking butterbeer and watching a Muggle Christmas movie, one called A Christmas Carol when they heard something outside, a whoosh as if someone had apparated.

Severus stood up and told Amelia and his daughter to go hide, as he thought it was Voldemort coming to seek his revenge; but he was too late. Voldemort struck down the door aiming his wand directly at Severus as he called out,

"My Lord, this battle has been fought too many times, seek peace and refuge, we abandoned you because you are not strong enough, you cannot fight any more," he grabbed his wand and aimed it at his once lord of power, but now he only saw him as weak and dying.

"Oh Severus, you always doubted my power, I was once weak, but I am now strong again unable to be killed, but one must die for you have abandoned me!"

Voldemort aimed his wand at Amelia, knowing this would kill Severus inside, and at the same time Severus and Voldemort called out, "AVADA KEDAVRA"

Green streaks went all around the house and a scream came from across the room, Amelia was quickly silenced as she fell to the ground with tears falling down her face as Poppy and Severus looked at her with fear in their eyes.

"Mom, mommy! No, no, dad do something! Isnt there a counter curse? Do Something!" Poppy was screaming as tears streamed down her face, helpless as her mother whispered, Always. Severus looked at her with tear filled eyes and whispered back, always.
