A few weeks before the attack on the Snape household, Voldemort still had some followers in which they attacked other homes in the prior weeks. Lily and James were among these Death Eaters, surely hidden from the outside world under their masks.

No one would know, who could know? Harry was at home sleeping in his bed, their relatives would have no idea it was them who were involved in these killings. Up until that night, they were a secret until they weren't.

Voldemort and his followers had planned their next attack on the Grangers, a small family who lived in a small house in a normal wizarding neighborhood. Voldemort needed information, information about armies being created to defeat him, he needed to know everything.

The plan was not to kill them, but to torture them and do whatever it took to get the information out of them. At the time, their only daughter, Hermione was in her first year at Hogwarts, a Ravenclaw just like her father.

The Potters promised Jean and Michael they would be safe, but they had lied. Voldemort sent streaks flying into the house, opening any and all doors, blasting them off their frames.

Jean was reading a book by the fireplace, Michael in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner; their daughter upstairs reading books upon books about Hogwarts.

"No! We know nothing of any army!" Michael yelled, raising his wand. Hermione heard them shouting and ran down the stairs in time to hear the words of James Potter, "Obliviate!" and the spell hit both her parents causing them to fall.

Hermione stayed by the stairs, unable to process what had happened.

"James! Where is the girl? She cant know, we need to find her!" Lilly yelled, but she was pulled out of the house, her masking slightly falling off her face just enough for Hermione to see her before she heard a crack meaning they all disapparated.

"Mom? Dad?" Hermione rushed to the kitchen where she saw her parents slowly getting up and looking around confused.

"Where...where are we? Who are you?" Jean looked at her daughter with no sense of recognition. They both stood up and Hermione tried to stop them.

"No. No, I'm your daughter! Hermione Granger! Remember?" Tears rolled down Hermiones cheeks as she realized they would never remember her. She picked up the kitchen phone and dialed the number to call St. Mungos the wizarding hospital.

Ambulances came to the house and picked up Jean and Michael, ministry officers came to collect Hermione, but she refused to leave the house. The officers didnt know what to do, they never had to deal with this situation before, so they left her there.

Hermione had been living on her own all this time with no one knowing. She would never forget Lily's voice calling out James for casting an irreversible incantation, she couldnt wait to get revenge. That was until she met Harry Potter himself.

"I'm Harry, you are?" They hadn't met at the beginning of the year, only after the incident happened. By that time, everyone heard about the Granger house, Severus and Amelia heard about it but never told Poppy for fear it would scare her.

"Hermione," she spoke in a soft voice, she knew who he was and what he was capable of, she didn't want anything to do with him.

"Oh, Granger, right? Heard about your parents, devastating isnt it?" He looked her square in the face as if he had no idea, but maybe he didn't. Hermione moved along and walked in the opposite direction of Harry.

She bumped into Ron Weasley in the hallway many times, constantly blushing and giggling towards each other, everyone figured they would start dating sooner or later.

She never met anyone in a situation like hers until Poppy Snape arrived at Hogwarts and she fully understood how it felt.
