Mystery
"I'm so curious about knowing the unknown; it can be scary, but I see it as a game."
🔪🩸 Don't be confused with the Mystery and Horror genre; Horror is the seemingly inevitable but unpredictable end, where the climax of the film can go away or stop with evil. Mystery in turn is a genre of fiction in which the nature of an event, usually a murder or other crime, remains mysterious until the end of the story.
A. Mystery fiction can involve an unusual mystery where the solution does not have to be logical and even without crime involved.
B. If you create a combination of mystery and horror, you will support the genre of your choice so that you may end up with horror or horror instead of mystery or mystery as the main genre of your publication. There are some writers who have varied the genre which confuses the reader whether it is mystery or horror.
C. Both horror and thriller have a lot of mystery in them. The difference is that in the horror genre, the mystery is usually paranormal and does not always have to be solved. (If it isn't, it's snuff.) Horror stories attempt to frighten you out in the same way as a bad nightmare or scary make-believe does.
- I don't believe in ghosts, but if a book makes me question my logic and keeps me awake at night, it implies the horror element has successfully penetrated my veins. In addition, most horror books have a cover with a statement near the title claiming that the actions and testimony in the story actually happened.
D. There are many parallels between the two since both usually focus around the pursuit of discovery of an antagonist, and how the characters eventually manage to (or fail to) overcome the antagonist's danger.
- The biggest difference between the two, is that mystery focuses more on the antagonist's pursuit and discovery, whereas horror focuses more on the antagonist's struggle with the characters.
