🗼 The use of guillotine was popularized in France during the French revolution.

🗼 The idea behind this was to inflict less pain and perform the execution as fast as possible. In this, a tall frame with a heavy suspended blade was used. The prisoner would be put at the bottom of the frame with his/her neck directly below the blade. The blade would then be released and would sever the head of the prisoner.

🗼 A machine used during (and after) the French Revolution for beheading people condemned to death, by means of a heavy sharp blade that slid down within vertical guides.

🗼 By extension, "guillotine" refers to any shearing machine or instrument (such as a paper cutter, a book trimmer, etc.) that is like a guillotine in its action.

🗼 Cement Shoes was a method of execution preferred by American mafia. In this, cement blocks would be tied to the feet of the victim to weigh him down, and then he/she would be thrown into water body to drown. 'Cement Shoes' is a slang term adopted for the method.

🗼 Cement shoes, Concrete Shoes, or Chicago Overcoat is a method of murder or body disposal, usually associated with criminals such as the Mafia or gangs. It involves weighting down the victim, who may be dead or alive, with concrete and throwing them into water in the hope the body will never be found.
