"Can you tell me what's been going on? Please?" Maxwell asked, concern full in his soft voice. "Did someone die or...?"

It was finally Christmas break. The semester was over. Chase breathed somewhat easier.

In order to cheer himself up, he went over to Max's house. The blonde obviously noticed Chase's sadness and wanted him to be okay.

Chase exhales a breath, resting his  hand on his cheek. "I got broken up with by someone I was just starting to actually fall in love with."

"Aw, Chase-"

"That's not the worse part, though." Chase interrupted, gulping. Chase's eyes met Max's olive ones. "The worse part was the reason why we broke up."

Max tilts his head, "do you m-mind if I ask?"

Chase sighs heavily, his chest ached. "He told me that his mental health was plummetting and that it usually did in relationships. And he has really bad commitment issues and didn't think he'd like me so much... He's still really likes me but he couldn't mentally handle a relationship at the moment."

Max frowns, his heart ached. He patted Chase's knee in comfort. "Was it the right person wrong time?"

Chase thought for a moment. He guess it was. He had to hide away from his parents, Clyde's mental health wasn't well... But they were so fucking involved in each other.

Maybe they could get back together later on?

"I think so, yeah... I really love him and he's just... So fucking sweet." Chase pursed his lips, feeling a stab to his chest. It hurt so badly thinking of Clyde. "But I want him to be okay and not overwhelmed."

Max nodded, smiling sadly. His eyes then widened. "Wait, you're gay?"

Chase's eyes widen too. He felt so comfortable with Max that he didn't even realize what he said. Fucking shit! "You're not gonna tell anyone, right?"

"Who would I tell?" Max flashed a short smile. He had such a cute smile. "I could tell... My d-dog. Wherever she's at."

Chase cracks a smile. "You have a dog?"

"Yep. Two. But they always hang out with Mandy... Cause I accidentally tripped on Bennett's tail and fell onto Sophia two months ago... So they've been a-avoiding me."

Chase snorts in amusement. "Are they're puppies?" Max nodded, adjusting on his bed. "Oh yeah, they're gonna hate you forever."

"No-

There was a knock on the door that interrupted Max. He huffs and answered. "What, Mandy?"

"It's not Mandy, babe." The door opened, a stunning girl walked in. Chase's eyes widen, his jaw nearly dropped. He's gay but... "Oh, sorry, I didn't know you had someone over."

Chase sent the pretty girl a smile, God she was so gorgeous. Was she the one Max had a crush on? If so, he understood 100 percent.

"It's okay, Dev." Max sends her a smile, Chase instantly knew that she was the friend he crushed on. "What are you doing here?"

Devon shrugs, picking up something on Max's dresser. It was a CD case. "Mandy's showering, so I guess I have to annoy y'all for a bit." Her eyes wandered to Chase. "Your names Chase, right? From the baseball team?"

"Oh, uh, yeah."

She nodded, putting the CD down. She picks up a pile of them, tilting her head. "I didn't know you had the Coming Home album."

Max didn't speak for a moment, pratically drooling at Devon. Chase tried not to stare at her too, she was gorgoeus though, had a kind smile and voice.
