the truth

//

death is a weird thing.

don't listen to the news. don't listen to the police officers. don't listen to the people on your street— not even the neighbours you trust. don't listen to your family members. don't listen to the radio. don't even listen to yourself.

listen to this.

Hoseok wasn't suicidal. no, the young man wanted to live. he wanted to live so much that he would've been content with watching his daughter from afar. this is the same construction worker who stood on bridges, buildings and never felt the urge to jump and end the torment he knew would always be there.

Hoseok was murdered. that's the blunt truth of it all— so that's one thing the news didn't make up or confuse with other news stories.

so, what happened? all will be revealed.

the truth doesn't just end there.

Namjoon had purchased the paternity test. after gaining Hoseok's contents as well as his trust and friendship, Namjoon had thrown away his urine sample. replacing the envelope that needed to be sent away with his own urine sample. the results of the clarification of being a father only told Namjoon what he already knew... that he was in fact Gaia's father.

his facade had helped as Hoseok innocently believed he was the father and had no idea of the tampered results. Namjoon had smiled because he did it— he made it look like Hoseok was Gaia's father when in fact, it was Namjoon all along...

spending more time with Hoseok, Namjoon had planted little seeds into the younger's head. walking through New York and seeing Taehyung with the woman— the mother of 'Hoseok's' child, watered the seed. this lead to bashful, determined Hoseok wishing to get rid of Taehyung.

Hoseok's smiles fell more and more and were replaced with frowns and glares as he spotted Taehyung revolving around the world of New York. seeing the singer replace his role in Crema and Gaia's life infuriated him. Namjoon watched Hoseok happily— proud that his plan was working. Hoseok was jealous of what Taehyung was, who he was, what he could do, what he had done and what he himself couldn't be. Taehyung got to Crema— his family— his life, before him.

so, Namjoon took it upon himself to warn Taehyung. Hoseok is after you. who the hell is that? Namjoon was growing more and more irritated with Taehyung— he's not sure he even liked Taehyung. kill him before he gets to you. kill him? what is wrong with you Namjoon? and Taehyung had walked out of the alleyway with a confused look.

another try had occurred and Namjoon wondered why he was even trying to warn a man of a potential murder. "what does it matter?" Namjoon had argued. "you're a criminal anyway."

Taehyung had reached forward to flick his finger against Namjoon's shiny forehead before he said, "i hang out with criminals who deal drugs, not murderers that think adultery and murder are on the same level."

Namjoon rolled his eyes. he liked— loved— being the chess player in this game of people. with his good looks, sleek jawline and wandering eyes— he fitted the role. it explains why he manipulated his meant to be client and construction worker into thinking he was the father of a little girl.

Taehyung seemed confused, bewildered in fact by what Namjoon was saying. Namjoon however, the taller and older one, was confused by Taehyung being confused. "why would you even manipulate him into thinking he was the father?" Taehyung questioned, scrunching his eyebrows.

then, the door unlocked and the female figure that somehow this whole story comes back to— without her even knowing— walks inside with a heavy grocery bag. she places it down on the floor, calling out to Taehyung— Taehyung, Namjoon had thought because he knows he should feel something like jealousy but he feels nothing.

Namjoon wasn't expecting Taehyung to be so okay, so open with the fact that he's the father of Crema's child but he openly said it out loud, "Crema." he called out to her, ushering her over as she acknowledged Namjoon with a brief and polite smile. "this is Gaia's father." he stated expressionless, gesturing towards quiet Namjoon.

"oh what?" Crema's eyes widened in surprise at Taehyung's face. her tone of voice immediately turned sharp and aggressive, "i'm sorry. how do you know?" she asked.

Namjoon cleared his throat, no longer leaning against the couch. "it's Namjoon, hello." he looked at her as she looked at him— remembering how they never did as they performed a sexual act that resulted in a child many years ago. "do you remember?" he questioned.

Crema let the silence sit as the men shifted uncomfortably. she simply watched Namjoon's face, trying to remember. "the guy who made me coffee when i woke up?" she finally asked, eyes recognising.

Namjoon nodded. those are the kinds of things people would remember. "the only guy who ever did i assume." he responded smoothly.

Crema hums. "you're right." luckily, Crema felt good knowing Gaia was at the nursery. she wasn't ready just yet. she wanted to accept first and foremost, that Namjoon was Gaia's father— no one else— not any of the other men who thought with their dicks rather than their mouths or even hands. one massive question was now answered.

when Namjoon left, Taehyung turned towards his girlfriend, his partner, his love but not his life. "at least it isn't some sleazy old cunt and someone you trust." he reassured, hand on her thigh as he looked at her staring at the floor.

"i need to contact him soon, eventually." Crema remarked, her eyes lovingly watched over Taehyung's hand rubbing over her thigh. "i want him to be a part of Gaia's life. what do you think?" she asked, looking at him directly.

"i understand." Taehyung looked back at her, bronze eyes still. "it's your call. it's a good decision." he reassured.

a long silence sat in which Crema leaned into Taehyung's touch and Taehyung kept his hand spread across her thigh. "i wish you were the father." she spoke into the silence, a whisper that spoke volumes and regret.

Taehyung gulped harshly. "you wouldn't want a baby with me."
