🕊 Chapter Seventeen: Weekend 🕊

🕊🕊🕊

"What room do you have?"

"Six-o'-two. You?"

"Six-o'-three."

I looked over at her slip of paper, "Huh. Guess we're neighbors."

She nodded her head, staring at the large dorm building with a small smile. "Guess so."

We walked inside and began looking for our dorms. Looking at the room number sign at the bottom, we were quickly able to find our rooms.

Alaina walked over to her room and walked inside to check it out. I opened mine, staring inside at the dimly lit room.

I looked behind me, seeing Yukio standing there with a smile.  I yelled out in surprise, "Yukio! W-What're you doing here?!"

"Sur-prise." He walked inside the room, flipping the lights on. "I got the school to bend some rules so I could room with you. And it gets better. We have the whole building to ourselves. Aside from Alaina, of course." I stared at him, completely baffled. He laughed. "Hey, you two are dangerous. Someone has to keep you under surveillance."

"Surveillance? AM I IN PRISON OR SOMETHING?!"

Yukio smiled, nodding his head, "Yep. And that means I'm the warden. You wanna be an Exorcist, don't you? It's a small price to pay if you think about it."

I laughed and stood tall, staring down at him with a smirk, "If that's how it's gonna be. Okay! Bring it on!"

Yukio smiled, laughing, "That's the spirit! Alrighty! Now, let's get that homework I assigned out of the way. Bring Alaina over so we can get started."

"H-Homework...?"

"That is what I said."

"Okay, okay! Stop hassling me!"

I groaned, falling back onto the bed. "UGH! How exhausting!"

Alaina let out a tired sigh, scratching her head, "I know. It was easy, there was just so much of it."

I jerked up from the bed, staring at her, "Easy?! I've never done anything harder in my life!"

Alaina smiled, "Did you forget that I and Yukio both studied to become Exorcists?"

I froze. I did forget.

She laughed, "Of course you did."

"Wh-What's that supposed to mean?!"

She shook her head, falling back on the bed. She smiled to herself, closing her eyes.

"What's with the face?"

She opened her eyes, staring up at me. "I'm just happy. When Shiro became my guardian, I never thought that I'd be taken into such a good family, where my best friend and I could spend every day together."

I looked to the side and scratched my cheek. "The old man did it for me." I glared nervously at the pillow I was sitting next to, an embarrassed blush on my cheeks.

A small chuckle emitted from her lips. "Somethings never change.".

"Wha-? What's that supposed to mean?!" I glared at her in suspicion.

She responded by sitting up and leaning her head on my shoulder. "But I'm glad." She said, "Having a different Rin Okumura would be weird. You're amazing just how you are, Rin, and nothing can change my mind about that. If I were scared of you then I wouldn't be talking to you. And if you don't believe me, just remember back to the time when I helped you in the daycare. And, of course, the other day."
