Chapter 30

I opened my eyes. The darkness was gone, the endless white hall was gone, the beautiful little floating light was gone... Now there was just a reality. Reality I didn't want to except.

B: I don't wanna die... Please don't let me die...

M: You won't die. I'll find a way. I promise.

Dr. P: Actually, you don't have to find a way. I found a way.

M: Why for the love of God didn't you say so before?

Dr. P: I was going to.

B: What... What did you find out?

Dr. P: There are two ways. But at the end of them bought you'll eventually become a vampire.

M: I don't think that she has a problem with that.

B: Really? You are really gonna star this now.

M: No, I'm sorry. I just don't want you to become like me.

B: But I want to become like you.

M: Trust me, you don't wanna be a blood sucking monster.

B: I wanna be with you forever.

Dr. P: OK you two, stop that, I'm gonna be sick.

Matt and I laughed. And then we looked into each others eyes. It was one of those looks when you know that you'll be with someone forever. Literally. 

M: Okay, you sad that we have to possibilities. What two possibilities?

Dr. P: You can become a vampire now but I don't promise that that will work. Or prepare everything till the birth. If we go with the second one you'll have to drink blood before the birth and when you die during the birth you'll be in transition.

M: Second one.

B: First one.

M: Second one.

B: First one. We don't know if it will work at all. We have to try.

M: Second one. You'll have more time to live as human, to live a real life, to live at all. When you're a vampire you're actually dead, not alive. We are dead walking creatures.

I stopped for a moment. I saw that he'll be happier if I stay human longer. I love him. I really want him to be happy, so I'll wait. I'll become a vampire anyway, but if it makes him happy it will be as latest as possible.

B: OK. Second one.

Dr. P: Yeah, one more thing. There could be some complications during the pregnancy because you're a human and a baby is a vampire so you are not completely compatible so if we'll have to we'll turn you before the birth.

B: Okay.

I was walking down the street and all I was thinking about was one thing "complications during the pregnancy". That words were ringing in my head. What complications? Is it gonna harm the baby? My head was spinning... I couldn't catch my breath... I felt a pressure in my chest... And then I just felt a punch in my head. I was conscious. I could see Matt above me. He was talking to me. I could hear what he was saying but not clearly like he was very very far away. My image was blurring, disappearing...
