Sports Festival Part 6 - Ice Cold Determination

Chapter 16

"We're up against him now" Midoriya said with a shaky voice, up until now he had been rather confident, most of his opponents were around his level and so he was able to handle them, but now, "Todoroki is on an entirely different level than us, we'll have to give it everything we have just to stand a chance", Riolu sat on the table next to Midoriya in the waiting room with a paw on his chin thinking just as hard as his trainer, Lopunny was leaning against a nearby wall fixing up her ear fluff, Heracross stood next to Midoriya and pat his shoulder reassuringly,

There was a knock at the door, Midoriya jumped in his seat, "C-come in" he said, as the door opened to his surprise the one standing behind it was none other than his opponent, Todoroki, "Eh? Oh hi Todoroki what're you doing here"

Todoroki looked down at the green haired boy, "This match is most likely going to be a 3 v 3"

Midoriya tilted his head "Y-yeah I kinda guessed that we both have three Pokemon after all" he said

"I will at most be using 2, I just felt the need to tell you" Todoroki said "If you manage to beat my first two I will forfeit"

Midoriya's eyes widened "W-What why?" he stood up

Todoroki looked down at one of the pokeballs on his belt "Because the third Pokemon I have was given to me by my bastard of a father, I refuse to use it"

"W-wait, what, why don't you like Endeavor, I-I mean your father" Midoriya asked confused

Todoroki's expression soured, "That man, he only cares about getting stronger, he wants to be the champion, to beat All Might, so much so that he completely forgot about his family he left all of us to be raised by only our mother while he devoted his whole life to Pokemon, even after our mother passed away he still did not come home"

Midoriya listened intently to Todoroki nodding his head every now and again to show he was listening

"But the worst part is that, now that I'm a trainer he's decided to come back into our lives, well I won't accept that, all this time he's neglected us but now he tries to be a father again, I'll never use the Pokemon he gave me, I'll become Champion only using mine and my mothers Pokemon" he turned angrily and left

Midoriya sat in the waiting room, he looked to each of his Pokemon, they all seemed determined, he returned them to their Pokeballs and stood up

"WILL BOTH CONTESTANTS MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE ARENA" Present Mic was heard over the Intercom

As Midoriya stood on the opposite side of the arena from his opponent he nervously reached for one of his Pokeballs

"READY, LET THE BATTLE BEGIN"

"Heracross let's go!!!" Midoriya tossed his first Pokeball out of which burst Heracross

Todoroki let out his Pokemon as well "Glaceon" the light blue Eeveelution stood at the ready

The two Pokemon stared each other down,

"Use Ice Shard" Todoroki commanded, Glaceon jumped into the air shooting three shards of ice towards Heracross

"Brick Break, hit those ice shard" Midoriya said, Heracrosses arms began to glow as it smashed the ice attacks headed its way "Now follow up with Megahorn" Heracrosses horn glew a bright green as it opened its wings and dashed at Glaceon

"Dodge, then Ice Beam" Todoroki said calmly, Glaceon did just that, it jumped into the air just as Heracross reached it using Ice Beam directly below it, hitting Heracross, ice slowly began to spread across the bug Pokemon as it struggled to stand
