DANIEL'S POV

"Woah, woah, woah," Corbyn says to me when I come into school on Monday. "What's up with that look?"

"What look?" I ask, spinning the dial on my locker door and putting my combination in.

"That," Zach says, joining the conversation. "That right there."

Since my date with Harper on Saturday, I don't think I've stopped smiling. And it's clear that the boys have caught on.

"You're like...glowing, Daniel," Jack says, staring unnecessarily hard at my face. "What happened to you?"

"It definitely had something to do with that Harper," Jonah says, taking a sip of coffee from his travel cup. "She's got you, dude."

I sigh happily. I totally look like a sappy, sentimental idiot to these guys, but I can't help it. "She really does."

The boys let out a chorus of 'awww' that makes me laugh.

"Little Daniel is growing up," Corbyn says, pretending to wipe a fake tear from his eye. "Got a girl and everything."

I laugh again. "More like she's got me."

The boys swoon again, and I shove Corbyn's shoulder, since he's the one closest to me. "Shut up, you guys."

"Dani's little dreamer," Jonah teases. "How adorable." Before I can shove him too, he bolts away from me, and I chase him through the halls all the way to first period, with the rest of the boys egging us on as they follow.

"Now, class, don't forget," Mr. Ethens says at the end of history. "Your end-of-quarter exam is next Monday. It will be covering," he continues, speaking over the entire class's groans, "everything we have learned this quarter, until the beginning of the American Revolution. Everyone got that?"

The class mumbles an answer as the bell rings, and we all scramble to get out of that classroom.

"He really is the worst, isn't he?" Harper says, falling in beside me in the hallway. "Scheduling a test like that."

"He only did it because he needs grades for the marking period," I say, laughing humorously. "Bastard. I'm so gonna fail."

"Well, at least we'll be failing together," Harper says, nudging my shoulder with hers. Then, I can see a light go on in her head. "Well, you do owe me a second date-"

"I'm the reigning mini golf champ," I say, laughing for real this time. "You'll get your rematch, but let me have this one for a while."

"No, silly," she says, laughing with me. "That's not what I meant. Study date. Next weekend. We can cram for the test together."

"Cool," I say, trying to keep my blush down. "We can do it at my house. It's just me this weekend anyway."

"So we'll be alone?" Harper says, raising her eyebrow.

"Yeah," I say. Then, realizing what she was implying, I start to backpedal. "Well, I mean...I didn't mean it like...you know."

"Relax, Dani," she says, laughing. I swear, my nickname has never sounded better. "I'm just messing with you. I'll be there."

We part ways at the end of the hallway - she turns right to meet Kaylee, and I go left to my locker to meet the boys. No doubt they'll notice the look on my face be teasing me about this girl yet again - and hopefully, they'll be teasing me for a long, long time.
