HARPER'S POV
"He did what?!" Kaylee squeals loudly as we drive home from school. "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, Harper!"
"I know, I know!" I laugh. "So now you're going to have to help me pick out what to wear and figure out how I'm not going to make a fool of myself, all right?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Kaylee says, still squealing. "I'm so excited for you, Harp!"
"Me, too."
I just hope he knows what he's getting himself into.

"Wait, what did he say exactly?" Kaylee asks me on Saturday evening.
I'm getting ready for my date with Daniel, and if I'm being honest, I'm kind of nervous. "He didn't say much," I tell her. "He said to wear pretty much whatever I wanted."
"Ugh, he is such a guy," Kaylee laments, and I laugh. "Like honestly, doesn't he know that girls need to plan for these sorts of things? That we can't just put a basic outfit together and be ready for anything?" Kayla eyes my reflection in the mirror. "Although, you did a damn good job of proving me wrong on that."
I laugh at her. "It's just a white t-shirt, denim shorts, and some red Converse. How complicated can it get?"
"But you look so good!" Kaylee says. "Daniel won't know what to do with himself." When I don't answer, she stops looking at my reflection and looks at me. "Hey, are you okay?"
"What if he's making a mistake?" I say. "What if he's not ready to handle the mess that I am?"
"Hey, hey," Kaylee says, sitting up on my bed and pulling me down next to her. "He fell for you. Even after he found you at the hospital and learned what you went through. He could've run scared, and he didn't. He wants you. And nothing less, okay?"
"You're right," I reply, taking a deep breath. "You're right. Why am I even worried?"
Kaylee smiles. "Because you really like him."
I blush. "I really do."
The doorbell rings. "Wow," Kaylee says. "Coming to the door and everything? He's the perfect gentleman."
"Shut up," I laugh, hugging her. "I'll see you later."
"I want all the details when you get back!" Kaylee says. Then she makes a face. "Well, maybe not all of them."
I just laugh at her again, and hurry downstairs to answer the door. When I do, Daniel is standing there, hands in his pockets, his eyes looking extra blue. "Hi."
"Hi," I say. "You ready?"
"Let's do this," he laughs.
"You kids have fun," Kaylee teases. "Home by eleven, you got that?"
Daniel salutes her. "Yes ma'am."
"So," I ask, hopping in the shotgun seat. "Where are we going?"
"Two words," Daniel says, sliding his sunglasses on. "Mini. Golf."
"Oh yeah," I say. "Get ready to lose."
"Oh, it's like that now?" Daniel laughs.
