Peter's pov

Jesse was really weird when he came in. His eyes were all blurry, he looked like he had cried. He past us without a sound and got straight to his room. Ned looked at me with confused eyes.

-"Do you think he's all right?" He asked me.

-"I don't know, I'm gonna go talk to him." I said.

I knocked on his door and waited for a reply. There was just silence. I opened the door.

-"Jesse? Are you..." I stopped.

He was sitting on his bed, tears running down his cheeks. He looked at me confused.

-"What are you doing here?" He asked me.

-"Are you alright? What happened? I just came in to see if you were alright." I told him. "Ned and I are almost done with our project, we wanted to maybe watch a movie, if you're down..."

Jesse shook his head. I looked at him with a sad look and then closed the door. We put on a movie, but I couldn't watch it. Jesse then came in.

-"Hey, do you want to watch the movie with us?" Ned asked him.

-"I... Yeah, if you don't mind. But can I call Sam?"

Sam was Jesse' best friend since he came to New York for the student exchange. They met in their class and were inseparable since. Ned and I knew him, but I didn't talk to Sam as much as I talked to Jesse. Sam was Jesse's friend and Jesse was Ned's roommate. He had been here for the last school year and was supposed to leave this summer. He was nice, even though we didn't really know each other. I didn't know if I would miss him or not.

About twenty minutes later, Sam arrived. He was smaller than Jesse, about 5 foot 4. Brown eyes and brown hair. He had a few friends, including Jesse. Flash, a guy that I hate, played basket with him. I don't know all of the players, but just the fact that Sam did not feel the need to be friends with Flash even though they were in the same basket team made me appreciate him a little.

- "sup Jesse!" He paused when he saw him. The look they shared made me feel as if he knew what had happened.

Sam sat down next to Jesse. I heard him whisper: "you'll tell me everything later. I got you." Jesse nodded and we all watched the movie in silence.

When the movie was over, I left. I waved goodbye to Jesse and Sam.

-"I'll see you tomorrow at school, Ned."

Jesse's pov

After Peter left, I went to my room with Sam. We sat on my bed and all the memories of the day came rushing back in my head. I closed my eyes, in a desperate attempt to have a little bit of control over them. Sam was the only one that knew about my father and the girl. I told him after I saw the girl for the first time. I opened my mouth but I just began to cry, I couldn't say a word. Sam waited in silence. He knew that he couldn't do anything and just had to wait.

I finally stopped crying and I told him everything.

-"Jesse, you did what you could. I'm going to help you get her out. Did you think about calling the police?"

-"Yeah, the police are not going to do anything. My dad is a police officer. He's one of the leaders of the city's police department."

-"Okay, then stay there as often as you can and do what you can to protect her."

I thanked him. Sam always had great advice.

-"I'm here for you, whenever you want to talk." He told me, looking straight into my eyes. I knew he wasn't lying.

A few hours later, Sam had left and I was laying in my bed. I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about that girl and my dad. Who was she? Why was my dad treating her like a punch bag?

I promise, we're going to hear more from Peter in the next chapters. Don't forget to like and comment
