Peter's pov
-"No!"
I quickly woke up. Y/n was crying against my chest. I quickly hugged her.
-"Chut, everything's fine. You're here. I'm here. You're alright." I whispered, trying to reassure her.
I glanced to see that Ned and Sam were also awake, while Jesse was dead asleep.
-"Yeah, I just had a nightmare. Sorry." She apologized.
-"About what?" Ned asked her.
-"Hum... The movie... it was quite scary." She said.
The boys just shrugged their shoulders and went back to sleep. I did the same, but I knew she was lying. She did not find it scary at all. I was sure that she was the reason that Jesse wanted Ned and I to call the Avengers. I highly doubted that she had gotten in an accident. It was clear that she had gotten through something big, but I didn't want to rush her. I knew I would find out one day.
The next morning
Sam and Ned left early. Jesse went to y/n's room to talk to her. I know I shouldn't eavesdrop, but I did.
-"Sam told me about last night. I wanted to give you this, in case you have an other nightmare. Call me whenever."
-"Thank you, but you don't have to do this. It's not your fault."
-"You know I feel like it is. Everything went to slow. I should've got you out of there a long time before I did."
-"Jesse, you waited for the right time. You did what you could, what was right. Its your father..."
-"No, that man is not my father. I refuse. He's going to prison once and for all. He got what he deserved."
There was a silence. Then I heard footsteps coming to the door. I quickly ran to my room.
That afternoon
Y/n came into my room.
-"What's up?" I asked her.
-"Nothing much, I was just wondering what school is like. May told me that I'd go to school with you, and... I dont really know what to expect."
-"Yeah sure." I waved at her to come in.
We talked about school. She didn't know anything about it. She asked me about the teachers, the school subjects and pretty much everything she could think of.
-"You've never been to a real school before?"
-"Not that I can remember."
-"What do you mean? You don't remember...?"
-"I don't remember anything before the accident." Her eyes filled with tear. "I'm sorry." She got up and was about to leave my room.
I grabbed her wrist. "No. Please. You can tell me anything, I won't judge you."
She smiled weakly. "Thank you, but I'm sorry I can't."
-"Peter! Y/n! Come eat!" May called us. Y/n shook her head and wiped her tears. She put a smile on her face and left the room. I followed her, silent.
The diner was weird. Y/n was lost in her thoughts, aunt May didn't understand what was going on.
-"So, y/n, how do you feel about starting school soon?"
The girl looked up. "It seems great."
The rest of the diner was silent. May and I watched a movie, y/n said she wanted to go to sleep early. Once we finished the movie, I knocked quietly on y/n's door. There was no reply, I checked and she was asleep. I went to my room and put my suit on. It was about 9:30 pm.
I swung around for about an hour and a half. The neighborhood was really quiet. No thieves, nothing. As I swung around my building to get to my room, I passed in front of y/n's window. She tossed and turned in her bead. I got to my room and changed into my pj's.
I could hear her in her room. "No... Stop... Please. No!"
I ran in her room, she was clearly having a nightmare. I shook her, waking her up. She quickly sat up quickly, but winced in pain. I put a hand on her back, helping her sit and sat next to her. She was shaking. She looked around, panicked.
-"Hey, are you okay?" I asked her, worried.
She looked at me and calmed down. Tears came to her eyes and were falling on her cheeks. I hugged her.
-"What was it? Are you okay?"
-"Yeah, it was..."
-"You know I know it was not the movie. I understand that you don't want to tell me, but don't lie to me. If you don't want to tell me, just say so. Don't make up a lie."
Y/n's pov
Could I tell him? Was it safe? Deep down, I knew I could trust him, but I had no idea how he would react. Maybe telling him would help me get this weight off my shoulders. But what if he judged Jesse? I couldn't tell him the part about what I did... My powers? Or whatever it was.
I told him everything, often stopping to take my breath. When tears became too strong, he wiped them away gently. When I finished, it was almost midnight.
-"I'm so sorry for what happened to you. If I can do anything, tell me."
-"It's not Jesse's fault at all."
-"I know, I know. He saved you."
-"He feels guilty of what happened, I try... I try to tell him everyday that he did the right thing, but he just..." I started sobbing again.
Peter held me, he stayed with me. "Do you want to call him?" He asked me.
-"No, I don't want to wake him up. Will you... stay with me?"
Peter didn't respond, but he loosened his grip. I layed down, my head on his chest. He was still hugging me.
-"You can go to sleep, I'm here." He whispered in my ear.
Y/n and Peter are getting close ouuuh. Okay, I really have no idea how to write authors notes, as you can probably tell, but I feel like it makes me human...? Like there's actually someone behind this story... idk haha. But don't forget to vote and comment :)
