If there was a war to be had, I would be the first one there to protect you from anyone who would try to harm you. No matter what the consequences were. At least that is what I would say to Y/n if I ever had enough guts. She meant the world to me, even if she was clumsy and never listened. With her around, I felt alive again. There was never a dull moment, mostly since she couldn't stay out of trouble. Even still, if I get to hold her in my arms at the end of the day, I would be happy beyond compare.

"Hi, Hanako-Kun!" I turned and, speak of the devil, was met E/C orbs. I beamed and rushed towards Y/n. I immediately wrapped her in my arms and laughed gently.

Y/n's POV
As soon as I entered the girl's bathroom, Hanako enveloped me in one of his warm hugs. I blushed at the sudden contact. Hanako was always there to brighten my day, even with the smallest of gestures. I just wished I had the same impact on him. I wanted to protect him from whatever seems to weigh him down some days. I know how much of a pain I could be, mostly since trouble always followed me. But, if I could bring a smile to Hanako's face by the end of the day, I would be happy.

"I wasn't expecting you to come here this late, Y/n," He said.

"I was planning on staying the night, is that okay with you?" I asked him. I held up my small f/c backpack that had some pajamas and blankets.

"Aw, you want to spend all night with me? I'm flattered," Hanako took my bag and lifted it over his shoulder. He extended for my hand and pulled me along outside the bathroom. Laughter filled the room.

"Where are we going, Hanako-Kun?" With a bright smile, he continued to pull me along towards the rooftop of the school building. Once we reached the top, Hanako stopped and turned.

"Isn't the sky beautiful with all the stars?" I stared longingly up to where he was pointing. They reminded me of Hanako's eyes. Both were bright and golden but held a deep and mysterious tone that I couldn't quite grasp. Often I wondered what it would be like to live among these million little stars, all twinkling under the vast moon. It would mean leaving everything else behind. It would mean walking off the face of the earth.

"Hanako-Kun," I began, "Can I ask you something?" I inquired. The proximity of Hanako was enough for my stomach to revolve in knots, and looking at him made my face redder than a stuffed Elmo doll.

"I just wanted to tell you that I-" A sudden gust of dark wind began to appear around the rooftop. Hanako pulled me behind him and unsheathed his knife. The wind began to break away, revealing a boy similar looking to Hanako. The only difference was their choice of clothing. It was Tsukasa.

"AMANE! AMANE! AMANE!" He chanted. "I'm so glad I get to see you aga-Oh, am I interrupting something?" He looked down to where Hanako and I were holding hands. I felt my face flush. Tsukasa stepped over to us, a sadistic smile crept along his face.

"How cute, Amane, you finally have a girlfriend. I wonder what would happen if I took her away from you~" I looked over to Hanako, his face was filled with fear. A stark contrast to what he was a few minutes ago. I saw the boy that was always so fearless quivering like it was the end of the world.

Just as Tsukasa tried to advance to me, Hanako pointed his knife at him. His other arm was wrapped protectively around my waist. "Not one more step, Tsukasa. Do not lay a finger on my dear friend, or you will pay the consequences."

He chuckled. He reached for Hanako, pushing me to the floor in the process. Hanako's knife also fell to the floor, making a thunk sound. Tsukasa's hand grazed his left cheek.
"I smile when I think of the day you killed me, Amane. I wish you would come and play with me more often as we used to~" He said.

Hanako gritted his teeth. Although they were twins, they were practically opposites of each other, I realized.

"Shut up, Tsukasa. Why can't you leave my friends and me alone?" Hanako finally yelled. That was the wrong thing to say; The other brother kneeled him in the stomach, making him crouch to the floor. Tsukasa was on top of Hanako now.

I knew I had to do something about this situation. Hanako was a ghost but that didn't mean he couldn't get hurt. I've always wanted to protect him and now was my chance. A gleam of light reflected in my eyes. I looked over to see Hanako's knife on the floor by me.

I inched over to it quietly and picked it up, hoping that Tsukasa wouldn't notice. The blade was heavier than I anticipated and about as long as my forearm. Before Tsukasa could lay another blow, I briskly tackled him.

"Leave him alone!" I shouted. With a grin, Tsukasa was able to push me off himself.

"And what are you going to do about it? You're a human after all." I shakily point the heavy blade in his direction. I was scared out of my mind but, I tried to stay strong for Hanako.

"Y/n-San! What are you doing? Get away from him!" I heard Hanako call out. He was trying to get up, but he was still weak from the attack from his brother.

"You are reckless but brave. I could see why Amane loves you so much." He hummed. "I suppose I should leave you two alone as seeing you don't want me here. So this goodbye for now."

And with that, another gust of wind surrounded Tsukasa before he eventually disappeared. I immediately ran towards Hanako, who was now able to stand on his own.

"Oh my gosh, Hanako, are you okay?" I asked. Hanako stared at me, worry evident on his face.
"I'm fine. More importantly, are you okay!?" His hand trailed over a bruise I had gotten from when Tsukasa pushed me to the floor. Due to the rush of adrenaline, I hardly noticed the bruise until now. The pain was apparent but not something that I couldn't handle.

"Oh, I forgot. Here you go!" I handed him back his knife. He took it and tucked it away within his inner pocket.

"Don't ever do anything that rash ever again, okay? I don't need you dying like a martyr for me. I don't know what I would do if you got hurt under my watch..." His voice trailed off. I smiled softly at the boy I have come to love. No matter how strong he tried to act in front of me, and even though he was an apparition, I knew that he still had his weaknesses.

I clasped his hands in mine and said, "You have protected me for so long, Hanako-Kun, I thought it was about time I returned the favor. I'm sorry for making you worry, but I would do it again, no questions asked."

Hanako's face turned a bright shade of crimson, a small smirk drawn on his face. I could see the little gears and screws spinning in his head.

"You know, don't you think you have earned a reward for your actions tonight?" He inquired.
"I uh-what do you mean?"

"I was thinking something like this ought to work," Suddenly, Hanako's lips pressed onto mine. I closed my eyes and began to kiss back, my hands snaking around his neck. The kiss was slow, his lips expertly moved along mine. Once the need for breath became too important, we broke away.

"I love you, Y/n-San. No matter what, I will always protect you." Hanako hummed.

"I love you too, Hanako-Kun! I promise to not get into as much trouble," I replied. For the rest of the night, we spent stargazing until we ultimately fell asleep in each other's arms.

Hahahahahaha, I am very surprised with myself. I didn't think I was going to finish this until tomorrow night. Surprisingly, this was easier to right so maybe I am breaking out of my writers block! I also noticed that I have over 100 reads (almost to 200)! Thank you to all of you who have been reading this book. I was thinking later on that we can hold some contests for a new cover or something...? Would you guys like that?

*sigh* I don't think that will happen until a while though. Maybe when we reach 1k? Anyways, whenever I write these little A/N's at the end, I feel like a mangaka. You know how sometimes in manga, the author always has snippets of dialogue talking about their life. That's what this kinda feels like to me. I don't know (--w--'). I think this is where I'll end it for now. Have a good night/day wherever you are in the world!
