Staying up till late hours of the morning, fighting off evil apparitions, cleaning bathroom stalls. This was the determined life of Y/n L/n. Risking her life every day for school seemed like busywork, especially since she was bounded to Hanako-Kun, the 7th wonder of Kamome.

Hanako wasn't your typical boy. He was an apparition who died long ago due to mysterious circumstances. His duty as the 7th wonder of the school is to protect it from any evil entities who try to threaten the peace. He wasn't a typical knight in shining armor that almost any girl would fall for. Hanako was clingy, perverted, callous, and has never told anyone his secrets. Yet, he was also kind, protective, clever, and strong. If the girl could pick one way to describe him, it would be perfectly imperfect.

After all the time she has spent with the young boy apparition, she was ready to confess her feelings for him. It took some convincing from her friends, of course, but Y/n knew that bottling things up forever will only cause the bottle to explode. In her hand was an envelope with Hanako's name on the front written in smooth red ink. Instead of a heart, holding down the upper fold was a cute donut sticker Yashiro had given her. Now all she had to do was give it to him.

Well, it turns out things are easier said than done. Of course, there were the natural jitters that come with every confession; flushed face, quivering hands, constant stuttering. No, that wasn't the problem. Because right before Y/n was about to confess, SOMEONE had to ruin the moment. And by someone, you meant Kou, the blonde exorcist.

Right as the words, "I need to talk to you," escaped your lips, Kou slammed the old wooden door and began to yell about something. Y/n wasn't sure what, though, since her mind was still processing what happened. First of all, that poor door doesn't deserve to be kicked. Second, what is Kou blaming Hanako-Kun for this time? And third, wait, did her confession just get interrupted?

She wasn't sure how to take this; She could always confess later, but she also didn't feel like waiting. Y/n thought that if she waited for too long, then the courageous feeling welling in her chest will dissipate.

"Hey, Y/n? This thing that Boy is talking about seems serious we should check it out just in case something bad happens," Hanako said. "But I know you wanted to talk to me before someone rudely interrupted us." He shot a dirty look at Kou, who glared back with just as much intensity.

"Oh no, no, no, it's okay, Hanako-Kun! This is more important!" She waved it off. Hanako nodded his head, a bit disappointed. He could tell his face was still a shade of pink due to the sudden closeness of Y/n. He had been planning to confess to her today, but due to unfortunate circumstances, he had to hold his tongue.

He had been liked her for quite a while now. He loved every word that came out of her mouth, the small smiles they would share, and the kindness she shared with others, whether she knew them or not. "Shall we go, Hanako-Kun?" Y/n asked.

Hanako snapped out of his daze. The sides of his lips curled up into a wide smirk. "Yep! Let's Go!"

It turns out that the apparition Kou was describing was not evil but a sassy, pink-haired photographer. Judging by his annoyed and irritated expression, the pair of best friends could tell there was no actual threat. Hanako sheathed his knife back into his pocket with a sigh. "Did you think it would be funny to waste my time, Boy?"

"For once, the scary knife ghost is correct, lame-ass!" Mitsuba exclaimed.

"Wait, wait, I'm still a bit confused. What happened again?" Y/n inquired.
