After around an hour of the three of them struggling to find a way over the wall, they finally managed to reach the other side by using a sort of pulley system that Annalise had read in a book somewhere.
Now that they had conquered one mountain, they realized there was another.
Finding Phin.
The "bad guy base" (Annalise had firmly established that it would and could not go by any other name) was extremely larger than they had all anticipated. Numerous buildings were scattered within the wall with several small cabins and houses lining the edges. There were so many different places to look, that they knew they would never find her by the end of the day. Not without being spotted.
They needed to be fast.
"Ok, hear me out," Noah began.
"NO," came the adamant answer from the other two.
Noah scowled at them. "You don't even know what I was gonna say!"
"We are not splitting up. That's how every horror movie goes. Then, they all die." Annalise persisted.
"No one is going to die."
Liam widened his eyes. "Die?"
"I might die."
Noah faced the sky and closed his eyes. "I hope you both do."
"We are all sticking together, no matter how long it takes. Splitting up is out of the question!" Annalise insisted.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, Annalise."
Noah, Liam, and Annalise all turned around, only to see that they wasted their sight on the ugliest man alive.
"Who is this idiot?" Noah laughed.
The Collector smiled.
~~~
They hadn't even begun to search before their mission was compromised. Annalise tried her best to not be terrified and focused on being ticked instead.
Fear never got her anywhere.
She was beginning to see that.
At this moment, Annalise was being dragged away by two of The Collector's men and towards one of the buildings. She was unable to see where The Collector had sent Liam and Noah.
Breathe, Annalise.
Once they entered the building, they went up a flight of stairs. Then into a small room. Then into the closet. Then up an elevator. Then up more stairs. Oh look. Another closet.
Annalise began to get dizzy trying to figure out where they were going. She was pretty sure they were going in circles.
They went down the elevator.
Yep. Definitely in circles.
Annalise hid a secret smile from the men.
She had been training for this moment her whole life.
