The two woke up to the sun spreading its light across the trees above them. They packed up and continued on their small journey.
After about three to four hours of walking, Sara grabbed Liam's arm and pulled him to the ground beside her. "I think we are here."
The plan was for Sara to sneak around and see where they were being held. Everything after that was improvised.
Liam was freaking out.
He hid behind a tree as he watched Sara creep up behind a small building. She looked around the corner and dashed in that direction.
She disappeared.
And that's when the screaming happened.
~~~
Annalise couldn't take anymore. She physically couldn't. Why not just tell them what they wanted to know? She had only known Sara for a short time.
But she wouldn't.
Sara was trusting her. And Annalise hadn't had anyone do that in a long time. Sara barely knew Annalise- yet she was counting on her. I can't let her down. I can't let anyone down. Not again.
Annalise looked out the window.
She saw two men ouside the left of the building, discussing something. Probably a new way to torture her. If Annalise was being honest, her torture was nothing compared to what people in action movies and books went through; but man, did it hurt.
Annalise noticed a shadow of a person to the right of the building. The person's hair was short, and reached their chin.
Sara
With a shovel raised, Sara slowly advanced toward the two men. Annalise knew that the men would see her coming. Sara needed a distraction.
It was a good thing that Annalise was excellent at distractions.
Her scream peirced through the air and the men snapped their heads around in her direction.
Bang!
~~~
Liam was worried. After the screaming stopped, he had heard a loud bang. Then, silence.
He hoped that Sara was ok.
Maybe I should go help.....
No. The plan was to wait here while she did the scary unpredictable stuff...
...but...
...no. She doesn't need your help. She's smart and capable.
But maybe...
Maybe she did need help.
He stumbled through the bushes and went in the direction he saw Sara go.
~~~
"I'm so glad that you are here."
Sara had just finished cutting through the ropes that held Annalise. Annalise was beyond grateful. This had been the worst forty-eight hours of her life. She rubbed her wrists and arms in the places that the ropes had been. Her skin was cut and bruised from the struggling.
Sara gave a small smile. "Follow me. Quickly. After that scream, I'm sure that others will be on their way."
The girls exited the building and ran around the corner. Sara pointed to the trees a couple hundred feet away. "Liam is waiting there. He has bandages and other medical stuff. Stay there while I get Chris. If things start to get crazy, you and Liam will need to leave. He will know how to get back." I hope. "Do you know where they took Chris?"
