With each passing street light, I grow more tired. The flickers of gold and white shine down through the visor in front of my eyes as we drive through the half empty streets.
I called Aven and she assured me that both her and Shyla were okay. They were more concerned about me than anything else but once I told them who I was with, they both seemed to relax. Why, I don't know, because I am far from comfortable right now.
I wonder how often that happens? The races being cut short by the cops showing up? I mean, it's not as though they aren't aware that they happen there so why don't they patrol it on the nights they take place?
There's no point in just showing up when it suits them if the races happen regularly.
I'm not the best at math but even that doesn't add up to me.
Disclosing my address to Rio wasn't something I wanted to willingly do, but in this case I guess I had no other choice.
It turns out that it isn't actually that far from where we parked, and we come to a stop outside my driveway soon after.
Rio gets off of the bike and helps me off, taking the helmet from me and placing it onto the seat. "Thanks," I say appreciatively and he nods a few times, glancing behind me at my house. "So are you going to tell me how you are related to Romeo yet?" I ask.
He blows a bust of air through his nose, folding his arms across his chest. "You ask to many questions," he mumbles, clearly dismissing me.
Why won't he answer me? It's just a simple question.
"Goodnight, Thea." He murmurs, obviously signalling that he wants to get as far away from me as possible.
Roger that pal — I know where my presence isn't wanted.
Pressing my lips together, I chew on the inside of my mouth before glancing down at the ground and turning around, walking towards my driveway.
I don't even bother saying goodbye or goodnight, or whatever you want to call it. I'll save myself the embarrassment.
Only when I open my front door, do I hear the soft rev's of his dirt bike and I sigh as I step inside the house, closing the door behind me without giving him a second look.
Growing up, I've come to realise that I'm never really wanted. I mean, my family love me and I love them just as much, if not more. It's just other people.. friends, boys.. my social circle.
Bodie didn't stick around, Seth, a boy I briefly dated after him also didn't stick around.. Crew decided that I clearly wasn't good enough for him and took it upon himself to shove his dick into someone else. He turned into a manipulative liar and a cheater.
