Recap: Figgins asked the New Directions to sing for the Homecoming pep rally, so Mr. Schue picks Britney Spears for the lesson. Rachel doesn't get a solo, but she goes a little crazy on some of the other members. Juliet talks with Quinn about her actions towards her, noting a shift in Quinn's character. The week ends after a fun Britney Spears rehearsal.

A/N: This chapter is quite a bit longer than normal because it gives some personal insight on all 15 current New Directions members. Stick around through this one, you should enjoy it.

"I'd like to do a repeat of one of last year's lessons: passion. Think about why you're here. Think about something, anything, you're passionate about. Why are you passionate about that thing, event, or person? Who is one person in your life that always supports you? You don't have to use any of those questions as prompts, but that's the kind of thing I'd like you all to think about this week. So, find a question, answer said question, find a song that matches your question and answer, and prepare to sing said song on Thursday or Friday. Got it?" We all nodded our heads and moved to start brainstorming. "I like this lesson in the beginning of the year because it allows all of us, including me, to think about the important things in our lives. Go on and get thinking."

I wasn't really sure where to start. Why are you here? I like singing and dancing and performing. Think about something you're passionate about. Glee Club, gymnastics, friends, and family. Why are you passionate about those things? I like performing vocally, I like performing athletically, I like my friends, and I like my family. Who is one person in your life that always supports you? My mom and my dad, but I don't know how to pick one over the other. What question and thing do I want to pick over the others? I have no idea.

I set my pencil down on my notebook with a heavy exhale. "Having trouble?"

I quickly turned to see who just spoke. Evan. "Um, yeah. I can't decide what I want to focus on."

"That sounds like a good kind of trouble, huh?" I raised my eyebrows, slightly confused. "You must be passionate about a number of things and care about a number of people in your life to have this much trouble deciding," Evan finished matter of factly.

I nodded, thinking about what he said. "Yeah, I guess." I shrugged, still not sure what to sing about. "What are you going to do?"

"Well, family is a big part of my life. Sam and I moved here from a small all boys school in rural Kentucky after my dad lost his job there. Our parents have always worked hard to give us a better life than they had. Sam and I have always been very close. We also have two younger siblings, Stacey and Stevie. We're a close family, so I'll be singing for them."

I smiled. "That's sweet, Evan."

"You still don't know what to do?"

I sighed and shook my head. "No. I mean, I'm close with my parents, but not like you."

"All families are different. I didn't tell you that because I wanted to show off my familial relationship or make you feel bad about yours." I looked back up at his eyes when he paused. "You'll figure it out, Juliet. It will probably just hit you in the head right out of the blue."

I bit my lip. "Right. Thanks, Evan."

"Anytime."

"Juliet!" The sharp clang! of Quinn's locker caught my attention Tuesday morning.

I replied in an unemotional monotone voice. "Hello, Quinn."
