It had been about a month since your first occurrence with Hugo, your manager. You didn't hate him as much as you originally did, honestly, you thought you were doing something wrong. Hugo kept up his cocky tough boy act, but seemed to avoid you any way shape or form. You weren't sure whether you liked that or you didn't.

But why wouldn't you like that? You didn't like him. Maybe it was sitting next to him on that bus ride for like 5 minutes. You didn't know. So, you decided to go and talk to him before one of your games.

You really hoped you wouldn't regret it.

"Hey Hugo!" You smiled walking up to him. He jumped slightly, startled by the sudden call to him. Usually the girls would only talk amongst themselves, or flirt with the boy for five minutes before going back to the girls. "Oh, uh hi 21." He said, looking up from the ground at you. You gasped, "You still don't know my name?" You joked, "I thought you were better than this."

"Of course I know your name Y/n, I can call you that if you want." You raised an eyebrow, what the hell was wrong with him? What happened to his cocky, care free personality? "I-I'm joking." You took off your baseball cap fixing your hair. "I wanted to talk to you about something." He looked you up and down for a second, "Okay."

"I noticed that ever since the bus ride, you've been...avoiding me. And I wanted to test out that that theory to see if I was right and played horribly practicing. You didn't even cretic me or anything, but you gave everyone that messed up once advice. So, why?" He sighed looking straight ahead for a few seconds thinking. He was good at blocking people from reading him. You sure couldn't tell anything going on in that head of his.

He suddenly smirked bending down to reach or hight. "To be honest, I could tell you really didn't like me and I'm not used to that in women," he whispered, "I don't know, I guess I just backed down like a coward." He paused placing an index finger beneath your chin, "What? Did you miss me or something?"

You felt your face heating up with this sudden change of attitude. It was like he needed the "ok" to keep talking to you with his actual personality and that's just what he got. You smacked his hand away from you, "Of course not, I just need a good manager. How about you? Did you miss me?"

The blond chuckled, "Maybe...you're my favorite after all." You smiled. But that cute moment was disrupted by a knock on the girls locker door. "Come in!" Hugo said firmly. A delivery boy came in the room holding a letter and everyone went silent. "I have a telegram for one of you," he said looking at the paper. He was struggling to find a name, "Shoot, these are really a pain. Why not just send someone personal to tell you that your husband has passed?"

The room was dead silent as the women looked at each other feeling horrible. Everyone was praying that it wasn't their spouse. You prayed silently that it wasn't your husband and prayed for everyone else in that room.

"Oh! Here we are...Y/n L/n." Your mouth slightly dropped, as tears blurred your vision. The delivery man passed you the letter as tears rolled down your face. "I'm sorry."

"Oh no," Nuru gasped softly running up to you and embracing you in a hug. The other girls followed hugging you as you sobbed into their arms. This couldn't be happening, no. This was a lot for you, your husband was the person you could rely on. Sure, you weren't in love with him, but he was your friend. And you just lost him.

Hugo stood there speechless, he felt horrible.

"No," you sobbed, "No no no..." It was time to go out to play against the other team. You heard a lot of people outside. So, you wiped away your tears as you struggled to breath correctly. "L-let's *gasp* g-go." "No," Hugo responded, "You're not in the right headspace to." "I'll be fine Hugo." "No Y/n." The girls let go of you when he stepped closer. You looked him in the eye for a second before hugging him burying your face in his chest, your tears forming again.

"The rest of you, out. Rapunzel, you'll cover for me." She gave him a thumbs up before leading them out of the room. He stoked your hair rubbing your back. "I'm so sorry Y/n, you don't deserve this. But you can get through this I know it, you know it." Your breath shook and you nodded. "Yeah," you sniffled, "Yeah I can."

You stood there for a few minutes in his arms before looking up at him. "Thank you...Hugo." "Its really no problem, no problem at all. You're my first priority." You raised an eyebrow in confusion and the boy processed what he said. "I-I mean you guys, the players, the team...you know," he turned red. "Yeah I know," a small smile formed on your face, the tears never stopping. You wiped your eyes again and again, the annoying tears were messing up your vision.

"You have to go out there," you said gesturing to the door. "No, I can stay with you if you want, I still get payed." You laughed, "N-no, I'll be okay, just go." You gave a half smile and Hugo returned it before hesitantly walking out the room.

You sighed, laying down on your back on one of the benches. You closed your eyes, breathing deeply. 'I'm gonna get through this.' You opened your locker and took a photograph of you and your husband on your wedding day. "You wouldn't want me to be sad," you whispered, "but I can't help it. You'd want me to move on and actually find my soulmate."

An image of Hugo popped up in your head and you blinked a few times at your sudden thought.

What was that?
