"He went back home for a while. He texted me this morning saying that we should stay put and not worry. Who does he think he is?" Chase huffed. "He needs understand that he's not a fucking kid anymore. He can't just run away. Anyway, he said say that he'll be back soon. I just don't know when 'soon' is."

---LINE BREAK---

There was no where to go, no where to escape in a storm like the one they were having that morning. It was one of those day where everyone was in their own room, in their own little worlds. Lea and Tyler were the only ones who had the heart to eat lunch while Chloe took a nap. In the meantime, Jessica and Nick took some time for their self. The weather and situation was too depressing for everyone. Liam was the one who usually brightened up the room, who told everyone to get off their lazy ass' and do something.

The thunder roared and the lighting lit up the inside of the cabin, sneaking in through the windows. Soon, the only people that were downstairs were Dean and Maddie. He leaned on the side of the door, debating on whether he should talk to her. She refused to do anything fun that day, she couldn't cope with the thought of Liam walking away from her. After finding the courage, Dean walked into the room. There were a few table lamps were on and the fire place was lit. His eyes turned to the corner table which had a full cup of coffee on it, a muffin and a book that all seemed untouched. Maddie's eye lids were slowly closing, but she refused to fall asleep. She kept her eyes opened at the sight of Dean by her side, sitting not too far off.

"Life isn't always about waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain." He spoke.

"What if you were the one who caused it?" She said, not sitting up, waiting for an answer. The only thing was, he didn't know how to respond to her question."

He cleared his throat and faced the window, watching the rain fall. "Relationships are never perfect, Maddie. You'd fight, sometimes there's jealousy, arguments, tears, disagreement and it all just feels like a load of crap sometimes. I know." He finally made contact with her tear stained eyes. "But...a real relationship fights through all that with love. He loves you and I know you love him." There was a sudden pain in his heart as his stomach dropped on hearing his own words. Even though he didn't want to admit it, it was true. Maddie loved Liam and there was no one else for her.

"I don't know what to do anymore."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she sounded like she was on the verge of tears. Slowly moving closer to her, Dean pulled her into his warmth and into his embrace whilst speaking into her ear.

"You have me. I'm right here."

Hours past but the two spent the time talking and picking out a movie for the evening.

"We all have stories, we never tell. But I'm glad that you're here, to listen. I love you for that." The words hit him like a knife in the heart. Her words juggled with his feelings but he always was a person who'd play it off.

"I...love you too." He said in a friendly way.

"I'm sorry. When I cry about one thing, I end up crying about everything." She said, wiping her tears away.

"Maddie?"

"Yeah?"

"If....if he's the right guy, he won't leave." He let out.

"I don't know." She huffed. "Can we just...forget about all this?"

He smiled softly at her. The more and more she sniffled, Dean realised something.

"I told you." He smirked her way.

"Told me what?" He asked confused.

"That you'd get a cold. But no, nobody listens to me."

"It's not even that bad. Just a few sneezes and a bad throat. I think I'll survive."

Ten minutes into the chick flick, the storm had passed, leaving light rain behind. Shifting slowly, Dean was surprised to find a warm, and very much asleep Maddie by his side, one hand clenched in the soft fabric off his t-shirt. He couldn't really remember her dozing off, only that they'd been watching a movie and she's mumbled something about being tired.

Dean shifted to get up of the couch, without waking her up. She didn't even notice, She really was tired. Dean grabbed a fleece blanket from the other side of the couch and draped it on Maddie.

"You're so beautiful." He whispered under his breath. He wished he could say it to her face, say it aloud but it was impossible. She had the most adorable eyes you could ever fall for and the most cutest smile that you could ever lay eyes upon.

But she wasn't his. If Liam wants her in his life, he'll put her in it. She shouldn't need to fight for her position.

---LINE BREAK---

With a quiet groan, Maddie heaved herself off the couch the next morning. She felt light headed and cold. But the next minute, she felt warm. The wooden floorboards were cold against her toes, There weren't many guys she knew that were willing to take care of an overemotional, and often at times completely irrational woman at the drop of a hat-especially one who wasn't their girlfriend. She slipped her cardigan back on before tiptoeing towards Dean's bedroom to see if he was awake.

The door to his room was ajar, and she peeked in to see if her movements had caused him to stir-they hadn't. He lay sprawled across the bed, legs tangled in the sheets, one arm tossed across his eyes to block out light, and the other draped across his chest. Maddie's relationship with Dean may have been just on the friendship side of things but even she couldn't deny that he was an attractive person. He was as tall as Liam and definitely as fit.

Dean sighed softly and rolled onto his side, reaching out as he did so to pull a pillow to his stomach. Maddie realized that she'd been staring at him for quite some time-far longer than was required to see if he'd woken him.

"Maddie...?" He asked sleepily. His voice was deep and lazy, scaring the life out of her all of a sudden.

"I didn't mean to wake you up." She whispered, tip toeing to sit beside him.

"It's fine. I was about to get up anyway."

"Well in that case, how about you get ready and we can have breakfast together. What do you think about that?" She smirked.

"I think I love that idea." He smiled.

And after two weeks, he'd finally saw her smile again, she was slowly recovering from a broken-heart.
