Dean's plan was to go to the engagement party, have a few drinks and congratulate his friends. But that's not how it completely worked out. One drink led to another. Dean Carter sat at the bar with a mysterious blonde who didn't seem very interested in.
Dean was doomed if he was drunk, something bad was bound to happen. Tonight was different; he felt lightheaded and his speech was slurred. Everything seemed five times more amplified than it actually was. There were too many people and it was too loud.
"Can we get out of here? It's too loud." The blonde said. Unfortunately, she had to repeat herself quite a few times in order to get Dean's attention; he was just stuck in his own world.
"Listen...I...you are really nice but I....errr...don't do one night stands." He smiled.
"It's only one night." She smirked.
Dean finally nodded in agreement, he was wired in by her words. Taking her hand firmly in his, he got up, stumbling across to try and escape into the cold summer night breeze. Suddenly, a fist came in contact with his jaw, making him stumble backwards.
Maddie watched from behind the crowd as they huddled around the two. Liam turned Dean around and punched him in the face. She could see blood squirting from his nose as Dean fell onto the ground.
"Oh my god. Please stop!" Maddie said, trying to pull the two away from each other. She continued to try and separate the two but it was no use.
Anger built up in Dean. He was now dodging all his punches easily and not listening to what Maddie had to say. After a blow to the stomach that sent Liam to the ground, Maddie stood over the both of them.
"You guys never listen do you?!" Maddie screamed. "I don't want anything to do with the both of you." She whispered loud enough for only the two boys to hear. By now, the whole group came together.
"Tyler, take me back to the cabin. I've had enough." She said sternly.
"But the engagement p-"
"Can you take me back or not?!"
"Yeah, sure." Tyler replied.
"I'll come with you." Jessica said.
"We are all leaving now and going back. Even Dean and Liam." Nick said sounding annoyed. And he did have a reasonable reason, they did ruin the engagement party.
---LINE BREAK---
Silence filled the cabin when they arrived home. Chase and Chloe stayed back in town instead of Nick to help Nick with the club management issues. They were the only stabled ones.
Liam knocked on her door, not setting a foot in her room. By now, Maddie was out of her party clothes and slipped into something more comfortable, and topped it off with a messy bun. Maddie looked at him, not knowing how to react. Yes, she was still hurt, angry and absolutely shocked by his actions but maybe it was time to talk about it. But letting the stubborn part of her take over, she quickly tried to shut the door on him. Liam was quick to catch on though, and pushed himself in. She was too annoyed by his sudden action, she didn't realise what was happening until Liam was standing in her bedroom, fully closing the door. And that's when she snapped.
"What were you thinking?" She yelled. He was silent, almost like a little five year old boy getting told off. "Liam, just leave."
"Okay, yeah. I hit him and it turned into a fight." Liam finally yelled back. "But Maddie, he practically took advantage if you when I was gone-"
"And who's fault was that? Did he ask you to leave?!" She spat out.
"He's one of my best friends and he kissed you. You didn't tell me until now. Why?"
"Don't make this about me." She scoffed. Maddie started to grow frustrated.
"Are you actually trying to stick up for him?" He said, sounding disgusted.
"No!" She yelled. "Liam, this is about you, not me. What you did tonight was completely wrong and you know it."
Maddie gave him a hurt look before taking sudden action. She walked to the other side of the room, opening a cupboard and pulling out a suitcase. Placing it on her bed and zipping it open, she threw all of her clothes that she had in her closet into the medium sized suitcase.
"Wait. W-what are you doing?" He said moving closer to her. He pulled the suitcase near him, taking all of her clothes out in a hurry.
"I'm serious, Liam. Please stop and get out." She yelled, her voice breaking.
"I'm serious too-"
"No you are not! You are not serious about any of this!" She screamed, pulling the suitcase and clothes out of his grasp.
"I'm not leaving but apparently you are. We can talk about this and, and...we can get through this." Liam said firmly. They both stopped with what they were doing and faced each other, both a reasonable distance apart.
"I think it's time I let you go, Liam. And its going to be so hard because most parts of me will be in love with you. But the fighting, the daydreaming, the running in place, it's not healthy." Maddie let out, quietly sobbing.
He stood there with tear stained eyes. "Please don't do this. I know that sometimes I mess up and do things that may seem like I don't care, but I do."
"It's too late." She cried. "Please just let me go. Let me leave. Please, Liam." She cried even harder.
"I don't even know why I'm still holding onto someone who's already let me go." Almost close to falling apart, he took a deep breath.
"Listen I meant every single sweet thing I told you. I still care. Maybe friends is all that we should be for now. Plus, I'm leaving for New York so it's better that we end it now, before one of us looses it." Slowly sitting down , he motioned his way over to her side.
"You're throwing away the best thing you've ever had."
"A bit self-satisfied aren't we?" She regretted it the moment it left her mouth- he was right. He was technically the best thing that had ever happened to her.
"You know, Maddie, I never pegged you for a quitter."
"This is not me quitting. I'm doing what's right. Liam, we are doing this over and over again. We're moving in circles and it's just getting wider every time. It's insane."
"Fine then, Maddie! Go! But when you get back home, if you ever do, I won't be waiting. I have to find someone else; someone that will love me and not leave me like you."
And with that, he turned around and walked out, slamming the door on the way.
