I was stuck in my room planing for the past week. The funeral was that night and I still had to come up with a speech. I was stressed and frustrated. I sighed, "I can't do this right now... I'm gonna take a shower..." I stood up and went to the bathroom with my towel and clothes in hand. Thankfully, I was home alone. Dean was at school and his mother was at the store. I took a quick shower, got dressed, and went to the kitchen. In there, I found a note on the refrigerator.

It said, "Dear Carter, You can eat anything in the fridge and cabinets. I just ask of you to stay out of the freezer. Me and Dean are making something special for the funeral. Thank you. If you have any trouble just call my cell. It's (***)-***-****" I put the note in my pocket and opened the fridge tempted to open the freezer but, I didn't. Instead I grabbed an apple and walked back to my room. I laid down on my bed thinking about the funeral. I ate my apple slowly then threw it away in the waste bin that was next to the door. I sighed and sat up rubbing the back of my neck.

"What am I gonna do? I'm so confused..." I stood up and walked over to my desk. I picked up my pencil and chewed on the eraser trying to think of what to write. Then, I got an idea. I got up and closed my door, locking it so no one would interrupt me. A few hours later, Dean got home and that's also when I finished. I leaned back in my chair and started dozing off, when suddenly there was a knock on my door. I jumped but calmed down immediately realizing it was Dean. I got up and opened the door.

"What's up? Ready for the funeral?" Dean sat on my bed and looked at me. I nodded and looked down at my black dress.

"I hate dresses but, I can live with it for now..." I sat down next to him and rested my head on his shoulders. He looked down at me and rested his head on mine. "I wish this were all just a dream." I closed my eyes.

Dean put his arm around my shoulder and hugged me tightly. "It's okay Carter... You wanna know something?" I looked up at him as he looked down at me. I nodded with tears threatening to escape my eyes. "My mother is actually my aunt. My mom died during child birth. I've never met my father either. For all I know he's dead..."

"Oh..." I laid back on my bed and stared at the ceiling. Then Dean laid next to me. I looked over to him and smiled and he did the same. We just laid there, staring at the ceiling, waiting for his 'mom' to get home.  After a while, we left and went to the funeral.

I sat in the back of the car, waiting for the place that smelled of death came. We soon pulled up to the deathly church where the bodies of my relatives were. Time for a funeral, and me to die inside...

We entered and walked to the front benches. Time went by, people cried, and people talked. When it was time for family to speak, a.k.a. me, I hesitantly walked up to the front of the huge room with the piece of paper in my hands. I shook slightly as I stood up there. My eyes burned but no tears appeared. I opened my mouth but no words came out. I tried moving my body but, I was paralyzed. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I soon started to speak, keeping a steady and calm voice. Not even a hint of sadness or pain was in my voice.

"Hi, my name is Carter Daniels. I'm their niece. Yes I was adopted but, I still love them. For years, I've had a hard life. For years, me and them had fought. But during that time, I still loved them. I couldn't run away, I couldn't leave them alone. I had to stay. Leaving them would be a sin," I didn't cry but, there was weeping in the background. I continued, " If I had a chance to switch places with them I would but, they're gone. I love them and I will never forget them. I'm sure there are many people that miss them. They will be in our, hopes, memories, dreams, and prayers." I bowed and stood straight, "Thank you for your time." I walked out of the room to the courtyard out back. I sat on the bench waiting for tears to over come me but, it never happened. I looked up into the distance and saw him... It was, the Slenderman...
