I soon cried myself to sleep. In my dream, I was floating in a blank black room with one light in the distance. Suddenly, I heard a voice calling my name. "The voice was deep, calming, soft, yet harsh. It must be male, " I thought to myself. I drifted around in the dark, looking for the voice. It kept on calling my name.

"To the light child," it said to me. Once I entered the light, I awoke with a strange man standing above me. For some reason, he felt safe. "I am Damien Crandle, your guardian. I have come here to tell you what you are here for and what your past was like," he said sitting down next to me. "You started losing your memory at the age of 4 and completely lost it at 13 years. You are to hunt and kill the one known as the Slender-man."

"Is he the one that was surrounded by young children earlier today?" I asked as I sat up. He looked like he was in his late 30's to early 40's.

"Yes. You have one year or you shall die a slow, painful, and horrible death. You will be erased from existence. No one shall remember you," He said standing up once again.

"No, please don't go!" I said as he suddenly disappeared. I didn't want him to leave because he seemed so familiar. Then my Aunt came to the door

"Carter? What's wrong sweetie?" She said opening my door, sitting down next to me on my bed. "Why are you crying?"

"I think I just remembered something from my past," I whispered feeling my warm tears start drip to my lap from my eyes. As I was crying, I started falling asleep.

"Carter," she whispered to me, "I want you to stay home today. I'll call you in. Good night," she left as I faded to sleep. Once I awoke, I was alone. I didn't want to be alone any more. I looked at my clock that was on my bed side table, it said 15:00 pm (3:00 pm)

They should be out of school now. I wonder what Alice and Dean are doing. Then I heard someone knock on the front door. I put on my robe and walked downstairs. When I opened the door, Alice tackled me to the ground hugging me, and Dean was just standing there blushing a bit. "What are you guys doing here?" I asked pushing Alice off of me.

"Uh, well. We-" Dean started.

"We came here because we love you and we were worried!" Alice interrupted.

"Uh, sure... So, can we come in?" He asked.

"Oh, uh. Of course. Come on in." I said getting up and moving from in front of the door way.

" So," Alice started, "How come you didn't came to school today?"

"Uh, well... To tell the truth. My aunt told me that I was adopted and I fainted into her arms when she tried to comfort me."

"I see. Maybe we should go then Dean."

"Yeah, we'll see you later Carter," Dean said getting up to leave with Alice.

"No, please. Don't leave me alone," I said as I grabbed his uniform sleeve.

"Okay, we'll stay here for a while," he said sitting back down and Alice did so as well. "Hey, there are new students. They're a bit weird."

"What are their names?" I yawned.

"One is a girl named Destiny and a guy named Taven."

"Weird names." After Dean and Alice went home, I went to my room and didn't come out until the next day. The next day, I didn't have the urge to smoke. It surprised me a little that I didn't want to. On the way to school, I stopped by Kate's house to talk with her parents. Once I got there, it was a new family moving in. There was a boy and girl around my age carrying boxes into the house. As I walked up, the girl saw me and ran over.

"Hi," she said waving her hand back and forth, "My name is Destiny and that is my brother, Taven," she said gesturing to her brother. He waved from the door, winked, and went inside. "Sorry about that. He usually only does that to people he knows well."

"No, it's okay. Well, I gotta get to school. See ya later Destiny." I walked away. They really are weird. What ever...
