"Carter?!" I looked up at him teary eyed. My daughter released my neck. I set her on her sister's lap and stood up in shock. I didn't know, that I would marry him. I ran to him, enjoying his embrace. I cried into his shoulder as he cried into mine.
"Dean, I missed you so much..." He squeezed me lightly, as if to make sure that I was real.
"Where were you all this time? Why are you covered in cuts and scrapes?" He pulled away and looked me in the eyes.
"I was visiting that past. I went back to our home town and looked around the old houses. I climbed up into our old tree but, the branch snapped and I landed in that damn rose bush again," I laughed as I cried. "I'm just so happy to see you all. You, William, Haylee, and Katlyn."
We all pulled into a hug. I was so happy to have them all at my side once again. Apparently, I was missing for three years. William and Haylee are now 15, and Katlyn is four.
William has grown into such a handsome young man, Haylee has grown into a beautiful and fine young woman, and Katlyn has grown much bigger.
We spent the rest of the night together, refusing to leave each other. Even Destiny, her husband, her children, Taven, his wife, and his children came over. After the children went to bed, me and my old group of friends gathered on the porch.
"Is this place really safe from 'it'?" I asked. Taven nodded and gave me a big toothy smile. I laughed and shooed them all inside so I could just think alone and gather anymore memories that I might have lost. I stared off into the distance and saw, him...
