chapter nine

Ellie:

"Sunshine, people mess up. Maybe you should give him another shot." My mum tells me as we are sitting in the den. It's now Saturday night and I was forced to tell her about the Hayden situation when she asked. I really shouldn't have , but I can't help it. My mum is my best friend.

"I know people mess up mum, but I just don't think it would work." I explain.

"I know darling, but just because of your past doesn't mean you are incapable of being loved. The way you spoke of Hayden, I could just tell how much you liked that boy. You never allowed yourself around any other boy, but you did with him so there has to be something you see in him." she tells me. As much as I hate it, she is right. Something did draw me to Hayden and I have yet to figure out what exactly it is. 

"I'm not saying you should forgive him, but you need to at least know that someone will love you no matter what has happened to you." she says as she stands up. "I'm going to head to bed so we can get up early and go to Lotties before you have to leave. Just think of what I said, okay? I love you sunshine."

"I will. I love you too mum." and with that she leaves me alone with my thoughts. I honestly have no idea what to do. I do really like Hayden, but what if he does something worse? What if I give more of myself to him and he leaves. I don't think I could bare it.

I have had my phone shut off ever since this morning when Skyler dropped me off at the train station so I finally power it on to text Addy for her thoughts on the situation. As soon as it comes on, it makes all kinds of noises and a million missed calls and texts show up on my home screen. 

Hayden: Ellie please call me.

Hayden: I am so sorry. Please let me make it up to you.

Hayden: Ellie at least answer me please.

Skyler: Did you get to your mums okay?

Hayden: I want to fix this.

Hayden: Call me please

There are even more that I can't read before I look at the last on from Skyler.

Skyler: Ellie, I don't want to worry you but  I am at Olivers flat with Hayden and he shitfaced. I have tried to get him to stop texting you but he won't. I know after everything you probably don't want to speak to him again but could you maybe text him so he will calm the fuck down. He's talking all this nonsense and I can't talk him down. I understand if you don't want to, just thought I could ask.

I immediately find Haydens contact and call him hoping I can help. He answers on the first ring and I can tell he is very surprised and drunk. Very drunk.

"Ellie." he sighs. "I didn't think you were going to call me back." he says.

"I didn't either." I admit. Just hearing his voice makes my heart rate increase, my palms sweat, and my face heat up. Gosh am I smitten for this boy.

"Ellie I'm so sorry." he says. "Fuck I'm so sorry Ellie."
