"Why won't you make your mind? Give me a sign."
Rumi sang along with the music that flowed through her speakers, applying a second layer of mascara to lengthen her eyelashes. Her eyebrows were freshly threaded, she had a fresh set of nails and she felt really pretty. All nervousness about school had gone out the window as she grew closer to Melo and his friends. They had gone out as a group twice now to get food and his friends enjoyed her company almost as much as he did. They teased her a hell of a lot more than Melo, but Rumi didn't care. She knew it was their way of showing you they fuck with you.
Melo could hear the bass from her hippie music as soon as he opened the front door. Her mom was in kitchen cooking and she smiled widely when she noticed him. She rushed over and kissed his cheek, "Ohhh mijo, you look so nice."
He had on a new pair of the blue and orange Balenciaga's, some nice jeans and a black t-shirt shirt. His silver chain hung from his neck and a few on his wrist.
"Thank you Miss Álvarez," he said sweetly. She batted her hand at him, "Call me Diana. Go get Rumi so you guys can eat."
Melo had met Rumi's mom the night he brought her home from his house, and he loved her. She was wild woman and super nice. She had taken a liking to Melo quickly and he basked in it as often as he could.
He opened the door to reveal a fully dressed Rumi. She wore black ripped mom jeans jeans, with a loose white graphic tee lazily tucked in. Her small feet were covered in yellow toe 1's making Melo raise an eyebrow, and her locs were hanging down her back. She looked sexy as fuck while swaying slightly to the music as she placed things in her bag. The smell of weed was evident in the room and he wondered how she was able to function so well while she was high.
"I aint know you had some ones," he said making her whip around. She breathed out an annoyed sigh and pushed her glasses up, "Jesus Melo, learn how to approach someone. And yeah, I went school shopping with Mark yesterday and got a ridiculous amount of clothes. I have a few pairs now."
Melo nodded, his eyes on her face. Her brown eyes were sexily low. He loved her piercings because they went so well with her overall look and vibe. Especially when she was high.
"Well you look good. And if you turned yo music down you would be able to hear me come in."
"What would my morning be without blasting Tame Impala though?" She retorted playfully while throwing her black tote over her shoulder. Totes were her best friend. They were comfortable, casual, and had enough space for any activity. It fit all of her notebooks, a pencil case, and her sketchbook of course.
Melo just laughed at her weird ass, "Come on girl, your mom made food and it smells good."
"She likes you a lot for some reason," Rumi told him as they left her room and walked to the kitchen together. Melo smirked cockily, "Do you blame her?"
"Nahhh," Rumi answered as she played along. She grew excited as she saw the eggs, bacon and potatoes in front of her. Rumi turned to Melo and gently pushed his shoulder, "Sit down, I'll make you a plate."
Melo almost swooned.
They sat down and ate with her mom, talking about how Chino Hills and how her moms realtor classes were going. Melo checked his phone for the time and looked up, "We gotta go, class starts in 45 and I told Reef I would meet him in the parking lot."
