"Getcho ass up!" Melo's voice rang through the house the next day. It was noon and Rumi was still holed up in her room along with the rest of the boys. Melo felt okay because he smoked before he drank last night, lessening the effects of the hangover.

Rumi opened the door groggily, stepping aside in her big t-shirt and lopsided bonnet allowing Melo to step in.

"Get dressed shawty, we meeting my brothers for lunch cause I didn't see them yesterday."

There was nothing to say about last night and they were both smart enough to know that. They were friends, and the conversation, well argument, they had last night only solidified that.

Melo's actions solidified that for Rumi and Melo held a little animosity because of her attitude last night. She was mad confusing to him. They had been flirting heavy over the last two weeks but she continuously makes sure he knows he's fucking friendzoned.

Prolly shouldn't have made out with her after Ash though, he thought guiltily.

Rumi said nothing as she walked into her closet and pulled out some random shit to wear. She threw it on, brushed her teeth then put her hair in a bun. As she woke up she realized what an ass she was last night. How did she expect Melo not to mess with other girls when she wasn't ready to commit to him? Not that he had asked her to, but still. She felt stupid. She didn't realize her own feelings and that's her fault.

It's your fault.

When she came out the bathroom she had to put a small smile on her face to ignore the incriminating voice in her head. Melo looked at her cute outfit couldn't help but return a genuine one.

"How was your birthday?" She asked him carefully, sitting next to him on her bed. He wrapped an arm around his shoulder after thinking of how far she went for him last night, "It was amazing, all cause of you."

Rumi sighed in relief, feeling glad they weren't acting weird around one another. This was enough for her and it always had been. She just wanted Melo in her life. A relationship came with opportunities to make mistakes and Rumi didn't feel confident in that area.

"Good, yo—"

"Yeah yeah, I deserve it. C'mon girl I'm starving."

"What about the boys?" Rumi questioned moments later as they buckled their seatbelts. Melo chuckled, "They won't be up for a few hours. We'll go back and wake they asses up so we can all clean."

Rumi nodded her head before looking out the window to watch the world go past. PRIDE by Kendrick flowed softly from Melo's radio making Rumi absentmindedly rap the lyrics.

"I wouldn't blame you for mistakes I made or the bed I laid," she sang causing Melo to look over at her disconnected behavior. She would do that from time to time. Retreat into her brain for a few hours and go through the motions while her mind was somewhere far away. Melo always asked what was wrong but she always put a smile on her face and said, "Just thinking."

"See in a perfect world I'll choose faith over riches," Melo joined making her look over with a small smile and continue, "I'll choose work over bitches, I'll make schools out of prisons."

They sang the rest and let the end play out. Melo had always liked Kendrick but Rumi would make him really listen to the lyrics and then break them down for him. At this point he thought Kenny was a fuckin genius.
