Ch. 1
And they lived happily ever after as I thought to myself as I finished yet again another rom com movie with my sister. I hate to admit it, but these movies are so unrealistic, but I can't help to be completely in love with the idea of them. Movies and shows were meant to distract us from our not so ideal lives and to fantasize what could be. I wonder what my life would be if it was like a rom com movie. Anyway, enough with rom coms. I then wash my face to get ready for bed.
After washing my face, I dread going to sleep knowing that my sister was leaving back home to Illinois. Siblings can be a pain in the ass, but my sister and I had a very close and unique relationship since she was about 11 years older than me. It always pained me to see her leave even though I've done it countless times since the second grade. It hurts for a day or two and then I am back to normal. I always tell myself that it's always okay to feel sorry for yourself and give yourself a day to cry and then the next day bounce back up. Slowly my eyes get heavy, and I fall asleep.
The next morning quickly approaches, and I can feel my eyes start to water when my sister kisses me goodbye. I have never been good with goodbyes and I'm not sure I ever will be, and just like that, she is gone. I spend the whole Sunday at home with my mom watching tv. Tomorrow was the first day of school. It was a bittersweet feeling because I of course did not want to do schoolwork, but I was excited to start senior year and see my friends.
Around 11, I washed my face and fell asleep. I am awoken from my deep sleep the next morning at around 6:45 by my loud alarm clock, and I reluctantly get ready for school. I live with my two grandparents, my mother, and my dog. My grandma always goes out of her way to prepare breakfast for me which I am forever grateful for. After breakfast, I take a quick shower and moisturize my face.
After my daily routine, I apply a couple of coats of mascara. I was on the dance team and had to wear our uniform for the first day of school, so I decided to wear more makeup than I usually do which meant I put a light coat of foundation, a little bit of bronzer, a light touch of blush, a settle highlighter, lip gloss, and natural shadow. I then curl my hair into loose curls. I then say goodbye to my family and drive in my 2013 Toyota Camry car to school. I park my car and walk to the gymnasium to get ready for the start of the school year prep rally. I am soon welcomed by my fellow dance friends.
"Fiona! Ahhh can you believe we are finally in senior year?!" My friend Journey tells me as she hugs me.
Journey was one of my closest friends on the dance team and was one of the co-captains with me along with Naomi. Yea I know what you're thinking. Senior captain of the dance team must be a real stuck up bitch. Trust me, we aren't all like that, but I can assure you that there are definitely girls like that.
"Hey Journey! Finally! This is going to be a good year. I can feel it," I say to Journey while putting my bag on the floor.
We then all begin to stretch in a circle and talk about our summers and classes. After about 15 minutes, we get up and grab our poms to get ready to line up in our lines.
"Okay girls, go to your spots for fight song," Journey tells the team as we line up and stand in our positions.
As people begin to fill up the gym, we do pom motions to the music played from the band. I can't help but notice a new guy walking in with three other guys, one being my boyfriend. He was very attractive. He was tall about 6 feet or taller. He had ripped black skinny jeans and a plain black t-shirt. His hair was blond and laid nicely on his head. As they walked to sit in the bleachers, he started laughing with his friends, which I was surprised he even had any considering he was new and was never mentioned by my boyfriend. I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard the fight song playing, and I began dancing to it with the team. After the fight song, the dance team and I sat on the ground near the bleachers as the principal made a speech about the start of the school year as she always does every single year. The prep rally soon ends after that, and I make my way to my boyfriend.
