Ch. 14
It's finally homecoming! I mean homecoming isn't really all that but it's nice to dress up and have fun.
I invited my friends Angelica, Nova, Gabriella, and Lola to my house so we could all get ready together and do each other's makeup and hair.
Angelica went on her date with Javier and it went really well. They aren't going to homecoming together because they just wanna take it slow since they literally just went on their first date two days ago. Lola is in a long distance relationship with Jose and he couldn't make it. Gabriella and her boyfriend were always on and off, and right now, they are off so she doesn't have a date and neither does Nova, so we all decided to go together as a group. I mean I am going with Lucas but just as friends so that does not really count.
We finish around 6:30 and take a few pics and drive to the school. We enter the school and go to the gymnasium. As we enter, the music is blasting and I see Lucas standing with his group of friends and walking towards me. Wow. He looks so freaking handsome. He was wearing the usual black suit but with a pink tie to match my dress. I was wearing a sequin pink dress with a lace up back that was fitted and nude heels. My hair was in beach waves. I mean I felt pretty good about myself besides this bandage on my nose that definitely lowered my confidence.
"Hey! You look beautiful," he smiles and hugs me. I can't help but to blush.
"You don't look so bad yourself," I smile and hug him back. Again, that damn cologne smells so good, but I can also smell the faint smell of alcohol.
"Wait are you drunk," I ask, raising my eyebrow.
"Just buzzed. The boys and I pregamed before this," he says.
"I should have done that too," I laughed because my nerves were starting to kick in with our little plan. What if Jordan doesn't even ask me to dance in the first place? What if the plan doesn't even work?
"I mean we have some. Do you want some?" he asks, eyeing towards his friends.
"No, I'll be okay. Thank you though. Now let's dance," I say and grab his hand to come join me on the dance floor with my other friends.
We danced for a good 30 minutes and by that time, my feet were killing me from my heels, so I took them off and put on my socks. My friends and I always bring socks to change into from our heels so it would be easier to dance. We get some water and sit for a bit.
After about 15 minutes of chatting, we head back to the dance floor. This year's DJ was actually pretty good because it's always a 50/50 chance whether they would be good or not. After another 30 minutes, I feel like it's my time to request the slow song. Operation Aberduber on the move.
"I'mma request the song now," I shout over the music to Lucas.
"Okay, good luck. I got your back," he confirms and I smile and walk towards the DJ.
"Hi! Could you play the song Speechless by Dan + Shay please?" I ask in hopes that he will actually take my request.
"You got it," he tells me with a thumbs up.
Yea I know this song is kinda basic but I didn't choose it when we first danced to it. I'm not a fan of country music, but this song is just so beautiful. Okay, now time to spill the punch on Abby.
Jordan is with his friends talking by his table and I see Abby with her friends outside of dance by the punchbowl. Perfect. I grab some punch and start drinking it as I walk towards her.
"Omg, hey Abby! You look so pretty," I compliment her.
"Hey Fiona! Thanks girl, you look gorgeous oh my god," she tells me, being fake as always but so was I.
"Are you having fun," I ask, trying to make small talk.
"Yea, Jordan and I are actually heading out soon," she tells me with a smile.
"Awe sounds fun," I say and start to chicken out from spilling the punch on. I was about to say goodbye and walk away until some guy literally bumps into me and I actually end up spilling punch all over her dress.
"Omg I am so sorry," I say with my mouth wide open. I actually meant it too.
"Just great," she frowns and walks towards the bathroom with her girlfriends.
Not even 2 minutes later, our song begins to play. Wow God must really be on my side since everything was going according to plan. I take a seat at my table which happens to be by his where he's with his friends who all find their dates and dance with them. He is alone. I am alone. C'mon I hope he asks me to dance as I cross my fingers under the table. I actually see him stand up and walk towards me.
"Hey, you wanna dance?" he asks, holding a hand out for me to take and I nod.
I stand up, and we begin to slow dance. It was nice to feel his embrace again, to hold his hand, to smell his woodsy cologne. My mind can't help but wander back to Lucas' cologne that I find to smell better. I miss him. Wait who did I miss, Lucas or the old Jordan? I shake away my thoughts and ask Jordan a question.
"How do you like the song," I question, trying to see if he somehow remembers.
"I'm not a huge country person, but this song is nice," he admits and laughs to himself.
"Yea I would have to agree with you about that," I say. I rest my head on his chest as I hear his steady heartbeat start to quicken. Was he starting to feel something? That spark?
I look up and our eyes lock. He smiles down at me, and I smile back. He starts leaning in. Are we about to kiss?! I begin to lean in with my eyes closed.
We are inching closer and closer together and our faces are so close to each other that I pucker my lips, getting ready to kiss. He then swerves and whispers in my ear, "I have to piss." But it's too late, I already kissed his cheek. How embarrassing. Before I can apologize, I am yanked by Abby who is infuriated at the sight. Shit.
"What the fuck Fiona! You slut." Abby exclaims with her hands in the air.
The audacity of Abby. Me a slut? She's the one who took my boyfriend!
"Wow. You're the one who took my boyfriend," I yell back and she shoves me.
"He clearly doesn't want you anymore. Just like your dad," she screams at me. Ouch. It felt like getting hit by the soccer ball times 10. I cannot believe she brought my dad into this. This was just evil. I feel my fists start to clench as my heartbeat quickens. It takes every nerve in my body not to punch or slap her, but after all she's done to me, I can't resist, so I take a full swing and bitch slap her.
"Fiona, why the hell did you just do that for?" Jordan yells back at me as if he didn't know the answer.
"Did you not just hear what she said to me? She doesn't even care about you," I scream back, trying to resist the tears. Her bringing up my dad really opened up a wound I thought healed.
"She's lying. She'll say anything to get you back Jordan," Abby refutes, rubbing the left side of her face that I just slapped.
"She's been trying to get with Lucas this whole time," I expose her.
"Not true! She's just jealous," Abby defends herself, trying to convince Jordan she's telling the truth and it works.
"Fiona, we were a thing of the past. It's over. We are never getting back together," Jordan confirms. BAM!!! Another harsh blow that leaves me speechless as if this night couldn't get any worse. This is over. Thinking about it, he literally pulled out Taylor Swift lyrics. What a dick.
I storm out the gymnasium to the hallway and run into the bathroom crying profusely. Not even a minute later, Lucas rushes in.
"Fiona I am so sorry. I tried to distract her but she saw you and Jordan and she was pissed. Are you okay?" Lucas asks out of breath. I don't know if it was because he looked so damn good in that suit or that Jordan basically officially broke up with me or Abby bringing up my dad or the moment but I couldn't help but to grab his tie to bring our lips together. There was that spark I've been looking for.
