Ch. 10

After handing a table I serve their drinks, I skate away and I feel a soft grasp to my arm pulling me to the side. I look up and see it's Lucas.

"What the hell do you want now," I hiss at him trying hard not to slap him.

"Woah, woah, woah. This is no way you should be thanking someone," Lucas says while raising his arms up in defense.

"What are you even talking about? What did you tell your friends?" I interrogate.

"It's what I didn't tell them you should be asking," Lucas tells me, still not answering the question.

"Okay this little game is not fun. Just tell me already," I say as I cross my arms.

"Okay enough with the games. Someone asked about me leaving the party with you last night, and I said I took you home, and they assumed I went home with you and slept with you. I was gonna deny it, but then I saw Jordan feeling like I don't know a hint of discomfort or jealousy?! I don't know, but then I decided to go along with it to help you out to make him realize he was in love with you. I was thinking we should date, well not really but to make Jordan jealous and remember he loves you," Lucas talks a little too fast and is out of breath.

"Lucas, this isn't some cheesy, cliche rom com. This is real life. We are not going to fake date," I responded clearly irritated.

"You're right. I guess it was just a stretch," Lucas shrugs, feeling defeated.

"Besides this could potentially help me, but I don't see how this benefits you," I begin to loosen up and stop being a hard ass.

"Oh yeah well it doesn't. It just pisses me off how Abby and Jordan treat you. No one should be treated like that, and I know how much you want him back so I just thought," Lucas explains himself, scratching the back of neck probably feeling dumb for suggesting this.

"That was actually really thoughtful and sweet, but if we did fake date people would talk because it's only been about three weeks since Jordan's incident saying I'm moving from guy to guy which I'm not. But I have a better idea. This might break bro code though," I begin to suggest but have a feeling it's gonna be rejected.

"Go for it," Lucas pushes me to continue.

"You should try to go for Abby very subtle though we don't want any beef with Jordan like that. Like try to get her to back off Jordan, so he can see she clearly doesn't care about him but I do. Could you do that?" I ask.

"I don't know Fiona. This can get pretty messy. What if she actually falls for me. C'mon look at me," Lucas cockily jokes around laughing and I join.

"Abby is incapable of love. Try not to break her heart or anything just a distraction if you know what I mean," I reply clearly implying sleeping together and what not.

"Gotcha. Are you sure this will even work," Lucas questions, raising an eyebrow.

"Not sure but it's worth trying," I shrug and am called back to work. Wow I was probably talking for a good 5 minutes. I am such a slacker. Oops.

"I gotta go but text me," I say as I wave goodbye and skate away.

After a couple of hours of the whole friend group skating, they finally leave. Thank God. I wave goodbye to them all trying to be friendly and continue working. Around 10, I go home and get ready for bed. By getting ready for bed, I mean laying in my bed until 12 or so on my phone.

While in bed, I get a text message from Lucas.

From Lucas:

Operation Aberduber in full effect tomorrow at school ;)

From Fiona:

Operation Aberduber? Where the hell did you get that from lol

From Lucas:

My mum and her friends used to say that when someone was listening and you didn't want them to know, so you would say Aberduber like someone is eavesdropping so to stop talking and it kinda just stuck. I thought it'd be funny to use because it kind of has Abby's name in it.

From Fiona:

Your mom seems cool as hell, but yep operation Aberduber tomorrow. Remember it's just a distraction just to give me time to get Jordan's attention. Don't actually have her fall for you. She may be mean, but I don't wanna set her up for heartbreak. I'm not that evil.

From Lucas:

You act like I've never done this before.

From Fiona:

Well have you?

From Lucas:

Yea. I did this all the time in Australia.

From Fiona:

Wait what really?!

From Lucas:

Nope but it can't be that hard but yea no one will get hurt.

From Fiona:

Okay, I'mma trust you but if anything goes wrong, it's off. See you tomorrow!

From Lucas:

Goodnight

With that, I go on Tik Tok for a bit and fall asleep.
