Ch. 4
I get home around 11:30 and take a quick shower since I felt dirty from all the makeup and performing at half-time. Around 12:15, I debated whether to text my friend group to tell them what happened since they left after the third quarter to get drunk at Nova's house, but I decided against it cuz I don't want to bother them and ruin their fun. They invited me to sleepover there, but I have dance practice tomorrow morning, so I told them next time. I slowly feel my eyes get heavy and the next thing I know, I am asleep.
I hear my alarm clock go off around 8:20, so I check my phone to see if there was any news on Jordan's condition. There was one text from his mom saying he is awake but doesn't remember what happened. I sigh and text her thank you and that I'll be there by noon. I slowly get out of my warm bed and put on leggings and a tank top. I then went to my bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth. I pull my hair into a high pony and have some cereal. I say goodbye to my grandparents and leave for school. I get to school at 8:55 and we start practice at 9. I tell Journey and a few other dance girls what happened, and they tell me how sorry they are. Dance ends quickly at 11, and I drive home to get ready and shower. I drive back to the hospital around 12, and I go to the third floor and am greeted by Jordan's mom.
"It's so nice to see you, Fiona," Jordan's mom says to me as she hugs me.
It looks like she hasn't slept all night which is totally understandable since her son was in the freaking hospital.
"It's nice to see you too. How is he," I ask her in embarrassment.
"He seems fine, but his memory still isn't there. The doctor says there could be a miracle, and he could remember and suggested trying to remind him of how he was before, so I'm hoping you could help," she tells me as she looks me in the eyes while putting her hands on my shoulders.
"I'll see what I can do, but I'll definitely try," I reassure her as she walks me to his room.
I enter his room as I see him sitting up from his bed while watching a football game. I guess football was a constant for him. He looks at me and smiles. A smile that makes me forget for a split second that he doesn't remember me.
"Hey ma, who's this," Jordan asks nodding towards me.
"Hey hun, she's just a friend from school," his mom tells him probably because I guess she wanted it to play out instead of forcing that I was his girlfriend.
"Hey Jordan! I am so happy you're okay," I say to him trying hard not to hug him and scare him off.
"I wish I remembered you, but you seem nice. Nice to meet you," he says as he puts out his hand for me to shake.
I know he wasn't gonna remember me, but now we were back to square one.
"Nice to meet you, Jordan. I'm Fiona," I say to him as I take his hand to shake.
We talk for a little bit until he slowly stops responding and is soon asleep. His mom left us to have some privacy but just walked in.
"How'd it go," she asks me as she sits on a chair beside his bed.
"It actually went well. He acts the same," I tell her.
"Yea he's still in there, but all we can do is help him adjust," she replies.
"Yea I better get going and let you guys have some time with each other," I say as I hug her goodbye.
"Thanks for coming and take care of yourself, Fiona. I'll keep you updated, but I just wanted to let you know he would be discharged tomorrow," she tells me and walks me out of his room and I nod.
While I walk to the elevator, I see Lucas and the other football players coming to visit Jordan.
"Hey Fiona," Justin says to me.
"Hey guys. Jordan's sleeping right now, but he should be awake in a bit. He is okay, but he doesn't remember me, but I think he'll remember you since you've knew each other since childhood," I tell the boys as I enter the elevator.
The elevator doors were about to close until I heard Lucas yell, "wait," and put his foot between the door to stop the doors from closing.
"We know how Jordan is, but how are you holding up," Lucas asks me coming inside the elevator with me.
"It sucks ass that he doesn't remember me, but I am just so glad to see he is okay and stable," I say to Lucas.
"Yea I could not imagine how you feel right now. I'll walk you to your car to make sure not another football player tries to mess with you," Lucas jokes.
"Too soon," I tell Lucas, not finding it amusing but lowkey it was funny.
"My bad. That was a terrible joke," Lucas says as he nervously rubs the back of his neck, and I just laugh slightly to make him less nervous.
We get out of the elevator and walk to my car.
"Drive carefully, and I'll let you know if anything happens," Lucas tells me as I get into my car.
"Thank you. See you later," I say as I close my door and start to drive home.
I get home around 3 and make myself a ham sandwich. I text my friend group chat of what happened last night since I didn't have a chance yet to inform them. I then decided to watch some Netflix for an hour or two when I got a call from Angelica and I picked up.
"What's up?" I ask Angelica as I answer the phone.
"How's Jordan," Angelica asks.
"He's fine. He just doesn't remember me," I sigh into the phone.
"Girl this could be like The Vow and you two live happily ever after even though he doesn't remember you, but he just gets to know you and falls for you all over again," Angelica speaks almost too quickly.
"Yea totally," I laugh at Angelica's attempt to make me feel better.
"You know what would make you feel better," Angelica asks.
"And what's that?" I ask back.
"Let's get drunk and forget about our worries for tonight," Angelica finishes.
"Yea why they hell not," I answer.
"Okay come to my house around 7 and let the fun begin," Angelica tells me.
We say our goodbyes, and I continue watching Netflix for a little bit longer. I don't usually drink because of dance, but I feel like I needed it tonight. I get ready around 6 and head to Angelica's.
