The Melody

Chapter 21

                        ***Rae***
  Jake laughs. "I'm the boyfriend." Jake pushes his feet against Rob's chest and send him stumbling back. Jake spits again and grins. "I'm not gonna fight you man. For Rae's sake."
  Rob lunges at him and Jake moves in time, making Rob fall into the van. Jake twists his arm and Rob moves to where he has Jake in a chokehold.
I take the gun from my waistband and fire it in the air. All eyes on me, I aim the gun at Rob. "Let. Him. Go. NOW."
  Rob drops him. 
  "Back away." He does.
  I walk over to Jake and look him over. "You okay?" I look at him worried as he spits blood.
  "Quite the teddy bear eh?" He chuckles a bit and I laugh as I help him up.
  "Let's get you cleaned up." I put the gun back in my waistband and get his arm over my shoulders. I look at Rob.
  "We WILL talk after."
  "You're damn right we are! Why the fuck are you-"
  "Rob!" He stops. "After I get him cleaned up. Until then. You sit in the livingroom and wait."
  I get Jake into the bathroom and wash his face. "I'm sorry about that baby." He winces as I run the rag over his lip.
  "It's fine firefly.  I completely understand why he did what he did. Typical big brother behavior."
  I lift his chin n kiss his forehead. "Stay behind me when we go downstairs okay?"
  "Okay babe."
We go downstairs,  Jill and Rob are sitting on the couch.
'Story book endings, fairytales coming true.' 'Crashin. Hit a wall. Right now i need a miracle. Yeah I need a miracle.'
I look at Jake and take his hand in mine and stand by the other couch.
  "Rae?" Jill is looking at me; relief,  fear and concern show on her face.
  I let go of his hand and hug Jill tightly as she cries. "I thought you were dead Rae!" I hug her tighter.
  "I'm so sorry Jill." I start to cry a little. "I didn't mean to scare you so bad. I swear."
  She wipes her eyes and looks at me. "Then please explain what happened."
  I nod and go next to Jake. We look at each other and smile as our fingers intertwine.
