Chapter 4
I woke up to a surprise. I rolled over to check the time. 7:34 am my digital alarm clock read. Great, this is way earlier than I actually wanted to, but it takes a while to transfer from Bahamian time to Oregon time.
Once I actually figured out where I was, I sprung out of bed and looked out the window. A huge smile spread across my face. Home, I thought. Squealing, I ran downstairs, skipping two steps at a time.
Brady was sitting in the living room watching TV, already up and ready to take on whatever life throws at him. Maybe I need to get his adrenaline pumping a bit.
I smiled and tiptoed right behind where Brady was sitting. Then I flung my arms around him.
"Holy shit!" Brady jumped off the couch and put his hand to his heart. "Oh my god! You scared the hell outta me!" Brady screamed, then laughed. I could tell his heart was beating pretty fast now.
I laughed. "I know, that was the whole point. Now what's up?" I said nonchalantly and jumped over the couch to sit on it. Brady took one last deep breath then sat back down by me. He shrugged. "Not much, watching TV. I should be hanging out on the beach in the Bahamas...but instead I'm stuck up here, on the Oregon coast." He stared at me. I hit him in the arm. "That's not fair! I told you this wouldn't be easy." I commented. He just rolled his eyes, not really caring. "Whatevs." He shrugged.
Brady threw his arm around my neck and I snuggled into him. He always made me feel safe. "Hey Brady? Can I ask you something?" I asked. Brady looked at me. "Whatever you want princess." He replied like that didn't sound kind of flirty or creepy in any way. "Okay...well, I was just wondering, if you had a girlfriend would you tell me? As your friend I mean." His eyes filled with confusion. "Well of course, why wouldn't I?"
I just shrugged and continued to watch TV without anymore questions. I didn't want to give him the wrong ideas, like I almost did yesterday.
That time kept replaying again and again through my head. The more I thought about it, the more I thought that I should have just closed the gap. I wanted to feel his lips against mine so bad, yet, I knew that would completely murder any of Brady's chance to just be my friends.
"How do you do that?" Brady suddenly asked. I looked up into his bright hazel eyes, that really looked blue right now. He held my gaze for a while, then I finally found my voice. "W-What?" I stuttered, not really knowing what he was talking about, but I had a good feeling. "How do you do this? I mean, how do you make me still hang out with you and be with you when you're so much of a nerd?"
My eyes widened and I punched Brady right in the center of his rock hard abs. My knuckles throbbed a bit, but I tried not to let him notice. "That's mean! I'm not a nerd!" I yelled. "What ever you say..." Brady trailed off and looked out the window into the ocean.
"Wanna go?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah, let's go." He agreed. I ran upstairs and went through my luggage quickly, because I still haven't unpacked it, and pulled out my bikini. Admittedly, I felt kind of bad for Brady. He didn't want this. He wanted to go to Harvard. Just because of stupid me, he decided to go here. With me. It'll be an adventure, I'll give him that. Being here with him. It felt nice too. We'll need to catch up from these sulky two years I've had with him.
A smile spread across my face and I changed into my bikini quickly, then ran out of the room. Brady wasn't on the couch anymore, he was probably getting ready too. "Brady! I'll be out there!" I yelled.
When I opened the door a shudder went down my spine. I forgot that this was the Oregon Coast and not the Bahamas anymore. It was cold out! I quickly shut the door, not to let anymore hot air out. "You might wanna grab a-"
