"I love you, Chic"
This was it. This was the time that both Chloe Beale and Chicago Walp, her boyfriend of three years were dreading. Chloe is moving to go to college in California. Chicago is one year younger than Chloe, he'll be joining her next year, but for now, they'll be apart weeks at a time. they'd promised that they would facetime most nights and that they would see each other every two months by taking it in turns on if Chloe would go back home, or Chicago would go to College.
"I love you too, Chlo-Bear, and you'll call me when you get there, yeah?"
"Of course" Chloe kissed his cheek. "I'll see you soon, now you need to get to school, otherwise you'll fail and then you won't be coming to join Aubrey and I next year"
"That's dramatic, babe. Besides, when am I ever late?" He smirked.
They had one final hug and kiss before leaving.
Chloe and her parents, Jenny and David Beale were in for one long journey. They live in Florida and Chloe's going to be in California to study English Literature. They looked at all of the other Colleges that Chloe was interested in, but this one was the best one for two words and two words only 'best friend'. She's been best friends with Aubrey Posen for as long as she can remember, and they've been planning going to the same College ever since Aubrey got into Berkeley, two years ago, as she is one year older than Chloe.
It wasn't Aubrey's plan to go there, she did originally want to go to Clemson University, however she didn't make it in, but after talking to a lecturer there she was recommended Berkeley. So, Aubrey, Chloe, and both of their parents went out to California to visit the University and both of the girls fell in love with it there and then, and they could see the Golden Gate Bridge from campus and were a 15-minute drive away from Albany Beach. They loved going around university and were told that the night life there is amazing. She got on well with Chicago, but she was happy that she would get to spend a lot of time with Chloe as they would be studying at the same place and had lots to catch up on. She had to go back a month ago as she still had some work to finish off for over the summer, but she is waiting for Chloe to arrive so that she can help her move in.
They had an hour and a half to go before that arrived at the airport. Chloe was just quietly staring out of the window, the sun was shining on the car, the roof was down on their convertible Mercedes, and Chloe's hair was blowing in the wind. She was deep in her thoughts, thinking about her final year at school, how many new people that she'd meet, spending time with Aubrey, thinking about how much she'd miss Chicago, and finally thinking about the degree she'll be studying.
She's always loved writing, it was her favourite thing to do. In classes when she'd be given the task of writing a short story, rather than spending a little time planning she would just write and write and let her thoughts take her away. She certainly was gifted when it came to writing. She was voted as the one most likely to become a writer in her yearbook.
Chloe was so deep into her thoughts that she hadn't heard her Mom and Dad calling her until her Mom tapped her on the knee.
"Oh, sorry, Mom"
"That's okay sweetie. Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I was just thinking about college, school, everything"
"You excited?" Her Dad asked.
"Oh yes" She smiled.
Her father smiled at Chloe and went back to concentrating on the road.
Jenny and David Beale split up a few years ago, but it was an amicable split. Chloe was upset to say the least, but she was happy that her parents spoke and when it came to her moving away, they both said that they would take her. They were there for Chloe when she went to prom for Aubrey's senior year, and for when it was Chloe's senior year and Aubrey went. They were always there for her birthdays, and her school graduation. Her parents were best friends since they were 10, and even after everything they have been through and splitting up, they were still very close. They just fell out of love with each other over time. but promised Chloe that they would both always be there, and they have shown her that. They are divorced now, but Jenny kept the name Beale, she never did like her father's last name. She felt like he didn't deserve it as he walked out on her when she was young, and ever wanted anything to do with her.
Chic<3 08:46: Missing you already, darling x
Chloe smiles and replied with a heart emoji. They both knew that they would miss each other. They're going from seeing each other every day to then just facetiming and seeing one another properly every two months. They knew it would be hard, but they also knew that it was only going to be for a year as Chicago would them be there.
Bree 08:59: How's the journey? I can't wait to see you. What time's your flight coming in again? X
To Bree: I can't wait either, Bree! The flight's at half 11, so I should be there around 5, but I'll let you know when we're in the car and on our way x
Bree 09:03: Ok, I'm in classes until half 4, but I'll see you later! Xx
By the time it was 9:30am, Chloe and her parents had just parked in the airport's car park and were on their way to check-in.
Bree 09:41: Tell Momma and Pappa Beale that I can't wait to see them either x
To Bree: They've been looking forward to it for a while. Oh, and Mom said about us all going out for dinner tonight. So could you find us a restaurant? X
Bree 09:46: Sounds good, and I already know of the perfect little place. Give me a time and I'll book it! I can't wait! Xx
"Someone's excited" Chloe smiled to her parents.
"To see you or us" Jenny chuckled.
"Oh, don't you start that again, Mother"
"Right come on girls, let's get these tickets"
Chloe walked trough the airport, her suitcase was in her left hand, and her carry-on bag was on her back. Her suitcase was rather large, she had a couple weeks' worth of clothes, a few pairs of shoes, stuff for when her and Aubrey would go to the beach, her favourite books, as well as a few other books that she hadn't read yet, and all her toiletries. Her carry-on bag had her MacBook, Airpods, chargers, passport, and a book that she's started to read. Chloe was however looking forward to being able to write and write. She does write but not as often as she'd like. She writes a variety of different stories such as horror, romance, and tragedy. Her favourite ones to write are romance, and she finds horror a challenge, but she loves them. She publishes them online so that other people can enjoy her writing. She doesn't start lessons for another two weeks as they have a two-week settling in period where they meet their lecturers and the people that she'd be in the course with, so she had plenty of time to write.
'Flight 176 to San Francisco boarding is now open. Make your way to gate 21E. That's gate 21E for San Francisco, thank you'
To Chic<3 11:38: Just about to board. I'll text you when we've landed. Hope you're having a good day, love you<3
The plane journey was going smoothly. By 20 past 12 they were up in the air and Chloe's laptop was out. She was sat between her parents who were either reading their own books or reading what Chloe had written. Her father is an English teacher at the same high school in Tampa, Florida where Chloe went to school. She found it great having one of her parents as an English teacher because she could ask him for help with work, and he loved reading Chloe's stories. When she would write a chapter, he would read it to double check for any spelling or punctuation, and then he would read it all from start to end after she knew it was finished. He loved that he had a daughter who loved to write, and he would always make the time and effort to read every one of her stories. Chloe started to write when she was in the seventh grade, it all started off as having to make up a story for class and she enjoyed it, and her teacher at the time loved the story that Chloe made up and they spoke about it after class. She worked with her for the remainder of her middle school and she very quickly became Chloe's favourite teacher.
Chloe is working on a romance story, but rather than writing it in third person, she's writing it from the writer's point of view, and her father is loving where the stories going, but she has an idea on where to go with this story and is trying not to let that on with her Dad.
"Another good chapter Chloe. I hope you still send me stuff, but make sure you do your work first"
"Thanks Pop, I will"
She spent the remainder of the flight with a headphone in and writing and writing.
'We're about to descend, please put all your belongings away and close your trays. Thank you'
