Chloe, Jenny, and David were 10 minutes away from the University of Berkeley. They didn't have the best time at the airport, Chloe was panicking because she thought they'd lost her luggage, but thankfully one of the crew found it at the back and apologized massively. She was taking in all the scenery again, this time rather than being away for a few days, she was now living there. she looked at the sea as they drove past the beach, all the shops, cafes, restaurants, and clubs. She knew that this would be a great thing for her, she was so happy that she could study something that she wanted too.

To Bree 16:58 – Coming in now!! Xx

Bree 16:59: Leaving now, I'll come and meet you at the car park! X

They all got out of the taxi and the driver went to the boot to get her suitcase out.

"Oh my God! Chloe, Jenny, David! I can't believe that you're here. It's so good to see you. How are you? How was the journey?"

Chloe smiled at her best friend and hugged her.

"It's good to see you too, Aubrey! We only saw you a month ago. Did you catch up on your work?" Jenny smiled and asked whilst hugging her.

"Yeah I did, thankfully"

"Aubrey, how are you?"

"I'm good thank you, David, how are you?"

"I'm good. Sad but happy to see my only daughter go off to college. I hope you look after her"

"Oh, she's in good hands, I'm so happy you're here, Chloe"

"Me too, I've missed you, Bree"

"Right, how about we go and get your room key and get this in there, and we can have a big catch up tonight. Aubrey, do you know of a place?"

"Yes, it's down by the sea front and it's booked for 8. It's sushi, is that ok?"

"More than ok Aubrey, thank you"

An hour and a half later and Chloe had moved into her room. Her roommate hadn't arrived yet but that was okay. She only knows her roommate's first name but nothing else. Chloe was excited to meet the girl, but also nervous. She'd never had to share a room before, let alone sharing a room in college. She had so many questions like was she shy? Did she drink? Did she smoke? She'll find out soon enough. Jenny and David left Chloe to catch up with Aubrey not long ago, they went to check into their motel and wash before heading out for dinner. It was very easy putting Chloe's stuff away, especially as she didn't really bring much. She knew she would keep herself busy with her studies and her writing, so she didn't bring masses amount of things.

"Right, Chloe, I'm going to go back to mine and shower. I'll come back in about an hour and we'll go meet your parents at their motel"

"Sounds good, I could do with a shower too. Thank you again, Aubs, I'm so excited to be here"

"I'm excited that you're here"

Once Aubrey walked out of Chloe's room, she very quickly sorted out her shower bag and some clothes to change into, she headed downstairs. She was happy to have a shower after a long journey, it was always her favourite thing to do. She picked up her shower bag, towel, phone, key, and her other bag that had the clothes that she was going to change into. Chloe smiled when she realised that she would be the only one in the shower, it meant that she could sing, and she would hear people coming in. She headed to the back of the bathroom and hung her stuff on the back of the door. She made sure to get her shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. She put her phone's music on, her favourite song at the moment is Muddy Water's, she loves how it's a low, deep song and then how it gets higher, and lower again, it shows her voice off.

She loves to sing, but only in the shower or in the car. She doesn't like to sing around people other than Aubrey. They both love to sign together. Aubrey's already promised Chloe that she's going to drag her to the local karaoke bar to which Chloe has said no. Aubrey knows that she'll get Chloe down there one night, it'll just take some time, but she's got three years for that to happen. Her parent's know that Chloe's talented with singing, they said that if she ever wanted to sing, they would support her, but she's always said no and that she wants to go into a career of writing. Music is a way for Chloe to think when she's writing her stories, and she even finds that sometimes music giver her ideas for her stories.

By the time she's showered, dressed, and just starting to straighten her hair, the door opens. She instantly looks up, wondering who came in. But of course, she sees a tall, skinny, long-haired brunette, wearing a white top, and a pair of skinny jeans, walking in with a man and a woman. She looks over at Chloe and smiles.

"Hi, you're Chloe, right? I'm Emily. Emily Junk"

"Yeah, that's me. Hi, Emily, I'm Chloe Beale"

She goes to put her stuff on the side of the room that's empty.

"Sorry, Em, I wish we could stay, but we've got to go. I've got an important online call at 6 with some potential clients. Give us a message to say that you're settled in. Your sister's staying for a bit to help you get settled"

Emily's face dropped.

"Oh, ok, I thought you were going to help me get unpacked?"

"I'm sorry, baby. I should've said something. I'll give you a call later. We're really sorry"

"Don't worry, it's ok. I'll talk to you later"

Chloe saw the exchange but tried to show that she wasn't listening. She could however see the disappointment in Emily's face. She watched them walk out before saying anything.

"Are you ok?"

"Me? Yeah, fine. It always happens. Part of the reason I'm staying in halls and not at home"

"Are you not that far away then?"

"Just a twenty-minute subway, but I'd rather stay here, besides if I stayed with them, I'd see them the same amount as if I would being here. They're always away, or in meetings. Sorry, I'm rambling. So what's your major?"

"English Literature, you?"

"Music. What do you want to do with English?"

"I want to be a writer"

"Have you written stories?"

"Yeah, I've written a few. I've been writing since middle school and not stopped since. What about you? What do you want to do with music?"

"I love writing my own songs, and I'd love to get somewhere with them, I sing as well"

"That's awesome. How many have you written?"

"I've written 4 so far"

Both the girls were talking non stop until the door went, to which they both stood up.

"Sorry, you expecting someone too?"

"Yeah, my sister"

"Go, answer it"

"Heyy, oh sorry, I thought you were going to be Chloe"

"No, sorry. I'm her roommate. Come in"

They both exchanged smiles.

"Bree, meet Emily. Emily meet Aubrey, my best friend. She'll be here a lot if that's ok?"

"That's fine by me"

All three of them were talking about their majors. Emily thought that Aubrey was a freshman the same as them. Emily wasn't exactly doing much unpacking, instead she was sat on the bed smiling and talking to Chloe and Aubrey. She was looking forward to the year, sharing a room with Chloe.

Knock knock.

"Come on, Emily. I don't have all day"

"Sorry, that'll be my sister"

"Didn't think you were actually going to turn up"

"I'd rather be here than talk to my father"

"Beca?"

"Aubrey?"
