The camera pans to young Ricky Bell walking around the house trying to find his mother.
Young Ricky- " Hey peanut, you seen Ma? Is she here? "
Peanut- "She should be".
Young Ricky- "Did she go to the store or something? I ain't see her".
Peanut- "I don't know, I just told you she should be" .
Young Ricky- " Where's Ma at ?"
Howard- "Don't you know how to knock?"
Young Ricky- "Just tell me where Ma is"
Howard- "Close the damn door"
*Gets up to close door*
Young Ricky continues to walk throughout the house. A freeze frame then appears onto the screen and introduces him as Ricky Bell "Slick".

He then walks into another room and asks, "You know where Ma is". He finally turns to the kitchen to see his mother folding laundry.
Young Ricky- "Hey Ma"
Mae Bell- "Hey baby, got my cigarettes?"
Young Ricky- "Yeah"
*Hands her the pack of cigarettes*
Mae Bell- " Dammit boy, I asked you to bring me light 100's. You know I'm tryin' to quit" .
Young Ricky- "Sorry---Uh..Ma? Can I go to the talent show tonight with my friend?"
Mae Bell- "Which friend?"
Young Ricky- "Mike"
Mae Bell- *She looks up from folding*
"Michael Bivins?"
Young Ricky- "Yeah.."
Mae Bell- "Hell no. I don't think so. A bad ass boy. Always hangin' around with Dante and nem.
Drinkin'.
Smokin' reefer.
If you had any damn sense you'd stay away from them. Watch. See where he wind up in ten years. Probably locked up! Big-headed self".
