Jay parked the muscle car, which was surprising identical to Victor's, in the middle of the parking lot. The entire length of the ride I clutched my seatbelt. Jay has an unnecessary need for speed, a lethal one. I don't understand why someone has to go eighty in a forty zone. It's a miracle we didn't get pulled over. Once we got out of the car, the two started walking away from me. Panicked, I started a jog to keep up with them. Why couldn't they be nice? Was that asking too much?
We made our way into the large brick building, which was rather impressive. Despite it being January, the entire outdoors was well kept. There were benches, a fountain, even some wilted flowers that made me excited for spring. As soon as we stepped foot in the building, I noticed them walking away in two different directions. Holy crap, no. I didn't even know where to go. I jumped forward, my two arms extended to snatch the back of their shirts. It worked. Jay and Dimitri turned on their heels to stare at me, while I awkwardly let go of their backs.
Dimitri thew me an indecipherable look and cocked his eyebrow, while Jay simply snorted.
"Is something wrong, solntse?" Jay mocked. Sunshine. He just has to taunt me, doesn't he?
"Yes!" I snapped, fed up with his actions. "You can't just drop me off at a new school on my first day when I have no idea where to go or what classes I even have!" I threw my hands up in distress, and placed them on my hips. Jay's eyes darkened, and he took a few steps in my direction.
"You might want to watch that mouth of yours, little girl. It could get you in real trouble." My eyes widened. "And yeah, I can leave you right where you are, because all I had to do was bring you here."
"But-"
"See ya." Jay waved as he took off into a crowd of people. That son of a bitch. I groaned, visibly annoyed. I was about to spit out some profanities but I quickly remembered that Dimitri still stood in front of me. He looked impartial.
"Stay out of trouble, I don't want to deal with a first grader." He turned on his heel, leaving me standing oblivious in the hallway. A bell rang, and a herd of students began moving to their classrooms. I on the other hand, slowly merged my way into the congregation. I have no idea where I'm going. Maybe I could ask a teacher for assistance? Blending in with other students, I decided on following the person in front of me to their class so I could plead with their teacher. Gosh I'm so helpless. The group just made it around a turn when a force rammed into me.
"Ah!" I heard a voice cry, as well as something hitting the floor. I looked down- a stack of papers had been scattered all over, and a girl was currently trying her best to pick them up. I must've ran into her... or vice versa.
"I'm so sorry, let me help you." I apologized quickly. I bent down, picking up papers and trying to prevent my hands from being stepped on.
"Oh, thank you!" She smiled, adjusting her glasses. I caught a glimpse of her bark colored braids.
"No problem." I returned the gesture. Just as I snatched the last piece of discarded paper, I figured now would be a great time to ask.
"So um, today's my first day and I'll not exactly sure where I should be heading to since I didn't get a schedule. " I scratched the back of my neck. She giggled.
"Oh don't worry!" She smiled. "I can show you where the office is- oh!" She must've remembered something because she started digging through her papers again. "Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be in my first period!" At light speed she whipped out a sheet and placed it on top of all the others. "Um, what's your name?" She sheepishly asked, her green eyes searching mine for an answer.
"Yulia Khigir, I'm a sophomore."
"Me too!" She grinned. "I'm Charlotte Barrera." She extended her free hand which I shook with a grin. Man, she's really excited. I stood awkwardly as Charlotte skimmed through the contents on her paper. "Aha!" She suddenly cried out. "You have first period algebra with me." Math in the morning? What is this place, Hell? "We better get going now so we're not late. Afterwards I can show you to the office and go to my next class."
