"How was your weekend?" Charollete asked me as we walked side by side into the building.
"Now that's a loaded question."
"What's a loaded question?" Brayden pushed himself between us.
"I'll have to fill you in later, maybe at lunch."
"That much news?" He said in surprise. We were all smiling.
"Yeah." I sighed. "Hey how was pizza at Marcos?"
"Oh so good Yulia, you really should come next time. I had the best Hawaiian pizza you could imagine." Charlotte was nearly drooling over the mere mention.
"Ew, pineapple on a pizza? Are you feeling okay?" I joked.
"Don't worry Char, she's just Russian, wouldn't understand and all that." Brayden assured her sarcastically.
"Hey!" I playfully wacked him. "I just happen to know fruit doesn't belong on a pizza."
"Aren't tomatoes technically a fruit?"
"Brayden?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up." The three of us erupted in bouts of laughter. I had to hold my stomach I laughed so much. It was good to be with my friends again. We made our way into Mr. McLeod's classroom and took our usual seats, just in time for the bell to ring. Agh, let me guess... More algebraic expressions, how fun.
"Alright class, I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend." He wished us with his thick Scottish accent. Aw, bless his old heart. "So if you could all be so kind as to open your text books to page 92." Aw shit, never mind. There were groans heard throughout the class. Just as I plopped my heavy ass book in front of me, there was a knock at the door. We're saved! Mr. McLeod saunced over to open it.
"Goodness I almost forgot!" He spoke softly to himself. We all watched in confusion as he opened the door and began speaking to someone on the other side. Whoever it was I couldn't see from my back seat, I only heard low voices. Javier took this as an opportunity to torment me once again. The red head spun around in his seat and threw a crunched up paper at my forehead. I groaned in annoyance, my eyes turning into slits. He simply smirked back at me. Goddamn him.
I made sure McLeod kept his back to us and gave him the finger with my own little smirk. Javier acted like he didn't care and looked away. Good. I reached over to pick up the paper and uncrumbled it. It was blank. I shook my head and tossed it carelessly behind me. What an immature loser.
"Class." McLeod addressed us, bringing my attention back to him. "Allow me to introduce our new student, Sam Johnson. He and his family just moved here from... Where was it again?"
"Denver." His voice was deep, his stance tall. Hair peeked out from behind his ears, and his eyes held that same warmness. Sam, Sam Winchester, that's what his name was... right? So then why did he say his last name was-
"-Sit right there next to Miss Khigir, yes. Splendid!" I kept my gaze down as I heard Sam take the seat to my right. What exactly am I supposed to make out of this?
"Miss Khigir, if you would be so kind to grab Sam here a book since you retrived one last time...?" McLeod trailed off. Of course. I heard Javier snicker from up front and rolled my eyes.
"Yes sir."
"Don't get hurt out there Yuls." I cringed hearing Javier's teasing voice. It wasn't the same tone as my brothers, it was disgusting. I fought hard against my instincts not to pull anything right there.
"I'll go with you." A soft voice spoke up, tearing me from my haze. Sam had gotten up and stood next to me, effectively towering some feet above me. Wowza what a tall guy. I didn't reply and moved my way out of the classroom, with Sam hot on my tail. As soon as we exited, he shut the door silently.
