The entire length of the ride home I couldn't help but wonder; should I say something? The constant purr of the engine did nothing to sooth my anxiety regarding inevitable consequences to come.

Admittedly, I acted like a toddler who wasn't getting her way. What kind of person am I? My brothers and, well my dick of a father took me in and I'm already causing trouble. Didn't Leon warn me about that? I sighed, ashamed at my cringe worthy actions. Unconsciously I fiddled with the sleeves of Jay's sweatshirt. It was comforting to at least have some of my dignity back with his oversized pullover, not to mention warmth.

The closer we got back to the house, the more sick I felt in my stomach. God what a terrible person I am. I wouldn't be surprised if they shipped me back to Russia. Sure that's a little extreme, but who would blame them? I was brought back to terrifying reality when Jay parked the car.

Dimitri got out first like everything was normal and headed towards the house. Jay however, turned off the car and turned towards me. I refused to meet his eyes, maybe out of pride, but definitely out of shame.

"Yul-"

"I'm sorry!" I blurted, cutting him off and meeting his now bewildered eyes. "Usually I never, I mean never do this kind of stuff but I don't know, I was stuck! I didn't know I had PE today and I didn't have the right clothes so this girl let me borrow her's but they turned out to be- to be this!" I motioned towards my body, now covered with his gray sweatshirt.

"And I made these friends, and they asked me to join a club so I said yes because it sounded fun. And I was going to ask you and Dimitri to wait a couple of minutes but I didn't because- well, I don't know..." I scratched my head, trying to come up with a reasonable excuse. Because I was pissed at them and acting out?

Jay sighed, running a hand through his milk chocolate curls.

"You could have just asked, you know." He stated the obvious.

"I know..." After a couple of seconds passed I added another apology, but this time calmer. Jay simply hummed in acknowledgment.

"You should know something though," His green eyes held mine demandingly, "when I tell you to do something, or anyone of us for that matter, you need to listen to us." I quickly nodded, complying immediately. The adrenaline rush on top of my flight or fight mode kicking in made me agree with everything just to get out of there as soon as possible.

"I don't think you realize how serious this is, Yulia." I remained silent. "You need to listen to us, even if you clearly don't want to, like today. You were drawing lots of attention, not just because of your outburst, but because of your outfit." Unwanted heat began creeping up my cheeks recalling all the onlookers.

"God, I didn't even notice until Dimitri pointed it out..." Jay mumbled, looking out the window and rubbing at his chin. Once his eyes landed on me again, he asked the million dollar question. "And what happened to your stuff?"

"Well," I sighed, "Miss Peterson, the PE teacher, said there was a drug bust and that no one was allowed back inside. Some people think that we'll get it back tomorrow." I shrugged, although I was worried about Karine's jacket. I could do without the bag and phone, all that mattered was that jacket, it was like a part of me now.

"They mention any names?" That caught me off guard. I had to think a moment before the culprit popped in my head.

"Javier had to stay behind for awhile..." I remembered Peterson taking him away.

"Javier? Javier..." Jay said the name like he was trying it out for the first time. "Isn't that the jagoff who had his hands all over you?" I recoiled at the thought. My flushed face told Jay all he needed to know.
