AMELIA’S POV

I woke up from the sidewalk a minute later to a group of people surrounding me and the dizziness from earlier trying to black me out again.  But I tried to keep my eyes open at least to register what was happening to me.  I couldn’t.  My stomach started to cramp and I let out a huge wail.  I can’t even seem to guess what was happening to my body.  I heard a faint siren sound and then….blackness.

       Thump…Thump…

I commanded my eyes open to see what that sound was.  And to my surprise I was no longer on the sidewalk but on some van and with the ear bursting siren sound I could only guess it was an ambulance.  The thump sound I heard earlier was when one of the EMT’s closed the ambulance door.  I screw up my eyes.

        What the hell was happening?

My stomach started cramping again so badly that I tried to hold my stomach but a hand stopped me in my tracks.  Straining and succeeding to open my eyes I saw a lady in her early forties shaking her head at me.  I was so confused.

Lifting my head, I saw my lower body.  I was covered in blood.

My mesh shorts from my practice earlier was soaked in it.  My period?

I can’t even remember the date today to guess when my period was supposed to come.  But why I did not even realize I was bleeding for a very long time.  My inner thighs were dripping blood and I felt dizzy for the hundredth time.

When the other EMT carefully cut my shorts, I was dying of mortification. The light blue panties I wore now looked full on read and was soaked in blood.  I never bled this much during my period.  And I had no idea why these people are making a big deal about it.

When they were supposed to check my head.  I would have fell pretty hard on the sidewalk to feel constantly dizzy.

I yelled when a sudden cramp hit my lower back and something discharged from my vagina.  I was about to see what was happening down there when I felt a prick in my hand.

Lolling my head sideways, I saw the lady EMT injecting me with a syringe.  I felt my pain decreasing gradually and when I was about to ask what the fuck was happening to me, I felt sleepy.  I tried to be conscious but when it was out of my hand, I simply paved way to my strange tiredness.

         Beep…Beep…   Beep….Beep…

Before I even opened my eyes, I could smell the chemical stench reserved for hospitals.

When I finally look at my surroundings, I was right.  The room I was in was small with a double window on either side of my bed and there was a machine hooked to me which was beeping, constantly.  Turning my head, I searched for the call nurse button, when I pressed it, I tried to remember what exactly happened to me.

I pressed my fingers to all the side of my head and felt nothing other than a slight sting on the corner of my forehead.  Obviously, I didn’t black out because I hit my head on the sidewalk.  Then why the hell is a machine hooked to me.  I groaned in frustration at the right time a doctor pushed open my door with a nurse in tow with her.

She mistook my groan for pain and was on my side the next second.  “Is there any pain in your abdomen, again?”  She asked her voice, soothing.

“No.”  I answered and realized that I indeed felt no pain that I earlier did.  She wrote something on the pad she had in her hand and poked and prodded the machine.
